DT2 Loaded and Bonsai Scouting Trip

It is a Big Agnes Three Wire Bivy. The newest model with the all eVent top. The tarp is a custom made one from Oware and all the credit goes to Eagle, who I think is on this forum. He designed the cut and tie outs for how he sets it up, I just didn't use it his way on this trip.

I go again in two weeks and I will be running the Big Agnes Fly Creek Platinum. If I have time I will do a review on it. It looks and feels great in my living room, but we will see how it is in the outdoors.

Very nice, how do you like the bivy?
I've looked at the Fly Creek UL2 before and it looks pretty nice, wish it had a little more vestibule room but looks solid.

Thanks for the props there. I thought it looked like that tarp, hope it has treated you well.

I thought you had made it on to Rokslide Eagle, welcome. Your design is very solid.

HellsCanyon, I prefer that bivy over any other because I like the hooped area around your head. I also have some room towards the head to store clothes, boots or even read if I got stuck in there for hours. As far as the Fly Creek Platinum, the room on the inside will make up for the smaller vestibule, or so I hope. I will take a small 5x8 tarp with me in a couple of weeks just in case it doesn't fit everything and I get weather.

Hey Eagle, post up some of your tarp pictures as you generally run it. I have some of yours if you want me to post them.

I met Doug the day after this trip. Tell ya what , I need to get in better shape. It seemed he was in shape to take it on again that day.:) I've made many trips like he did. I know .Also, He showed me some of his "toys"(dt2,stoves,shelters,etc..) I'm Jelious.. His BP set up is sweet.

So this is Eagles custom Oware Tarp set up the way it was designed. I had all the guy outs pre tied to use his way, but didn't so I could have more covered area. It can be setup any way you want. I think I paid about $105 from Oware for it and got permission from Eagle to use his design prior to ordering.

FTF, the ones on the sides are just sewn in normal, the top ones are on a "patch" type to thing to secure them. Pearce has a website with more details on their tarps.

Rosin, thanks. Just a note, the first pic has the proper pitch, the second pic was the first time I had pitched the tarp in several months and I screwed up which patch guylines went over the trekking pole first. It's pretty easy to tell when you have it wrong as the pitch isn't nearly as tight.

Also, no need to get permission from me for this design. It works very well, and the pitch is actually essentially the same as the supartarp/paratarp, you just don't need the additional trekking pole inside the tarp to hold the backside up. That part is taken care of with the extra guyout points on the top and the guylines attached to the trekking pole at the back end. It requires more stakes than the kifaru tarps, and that's one of the reasons I'll be trying out the paratarp I recently won on here during two August trips (CO and WY).

Hey Rosin, have you had a chance to use the Fly Creek Platinum yet? I am looking at picking one up as well, but want to hear what you have to say about it first. I think it will make a great three season, lightweight tent option. Thanks!

Nick, I used it this last weekend on another scouting trip. I will write something about today and post it as a new thread.
