DT1 vs AMR

They are practically the same bag; it's just that the AMR is bigger with missing side pockets. Really not much more to say. If you need a true 7200+ size bag, go with the AMR. If you can get away with a little smaller go with the DT1.

I have the AMR and it is cavernous ! With two large spotting scope pockets and a guide lid it's ridiculous how much I can stuff in it. I love it but wish it had the DT1 type side pockets. I had a DT1 but with the smaller old style pockets and I was getting tight with winter gear and clothes but I'm xxl so my clothes are bigger than most as is my sleep system. I wish they would make the AMR size bag with sewn in side pockets.

I picked the AMR because it has a bigger top opening. The scope pockets fit perfectly on the sides for added storage.
Would you mind posting a pic of your Amr with spotting scope pockets? I'm interested in seeing how it works out.

I have an argali that I'm deciding to keep or sell for an AMR.

I was curious about the spotting pocket as well. I like to carry scope and tripod on the sides and was wondering if this is better on the T1 or AMR with a spotting scope pocket on one side and just lashing down the tripod on the other.

Some other points of interest for me are the front pocket sizes...i like that the AMR has bigger pockets (big enough to put rain gear in?) Also like the compression straps of the AMR for day mode. As far as compression and day mode the AMR seems like a much more versatile pack....seems like there is much more accessibility when the pack is compressed on the AMR as I could put stuff the guide lid, possibly rain gear in the front pockets, and layers in the bottom of the main bag.

2nd that! I did but I thought it would be too big. But now it's my favorite for carrying in camp and it compresses down to nothing for day hunt mode with spotter in the slot pockets. It unzips to throw quarters in and then you can compress it tight.

I for some reason I'm on the fence about the EMR II any compelling reason to pick it over the AMR?

My DT1 w/ LH lid, 2 med & 2 small pockets is a friggin' condo. I have to check it periodically to see if illegal aliens are hiding inside.

Used the DT1 quite a bit and hauled out a number of animals with them. One reason like someone said above to get the AMR over the DT1 is the top opening to the main bag. DT1 is narrow and can at times make it a bit of a pain to get game bags (especially if on quarters) in and out of the bag compared to the wider openings like the AMR has.

Of course the EMR 2 solves all of that and my first pick for a "hunting" pack. But the EMR 2 is certainly overkill for scouting and such. But hard the beat the quick loading/unloading of the EMR 2 compared to the AMR or the DT1 when it comes to taking meat in and out of the pack.

Also like you can see in Bruce's pic above....the DT1 gets its large volume numbers by having a VERY tall pack when loaded. The AMR packbag by contrast has a greater circumference, this shorter and way less of a pain in the brush. Of course if you don't hunt in places with brush or much of it that isn't much of a concern I suppose.
