I use a Seek Outside DST tarp as my primary shelter when hunting in areas or seasons with no bugs. It doubles as a rain shelter with plenty of space to lay things out or hang them to dry. When backpacking with my kids in summer when there might be bugs, I’ve found it useful to combine the DST tarp with just the floor/inner mesh and poles from a cheap 3 person tent. This allows much more ventilation in rainy or humid weather than the standard dome rain fly. The combination is 4.8 pounds. This is a pound lighter than the complete tent by itself. It seems to be a very versatile setup for all conditions. The pictures show a few of the ways I use the DST tarp.
