Drew My Dream Tag

Great goat, and great story!! I'm glad you were able to connect on such a fine animal...you earned it!

Good work on the hunt and nice old goat! Are you getting a tooth aged?

Yes, the Utah Divison of Wildlife Resources sent a packet out for a couple teeth. I should get the results from them.

With the horns fully exposed from hair and glands. I age him at 6 years by counting annuli.

After getting over being up fourty hours, the adrenalin and emotional rushes, lots of days of steep chest high bushwacking and load hauling. I've realized that this hunt was as much my brothers as mine.

My brother and I had the same number of points for goat in Utah. I drew my tag on luck and not max points. Either way we both knew that we would be at each others side regardless of whos name was printed on the tag.

I have called my brother BG, short for Billy Goat for years. He is a hiking machine, first rate guide, mule powered sherpa, and most importantly he is my friend.

Just to give a little validation to his power and stamina. Before a certain 7 time Tour de France winner finally fell from graces. My brother was asked to guide him on the trails for an up coming mountain triathlon. My brother could hang with him stimulant free.

My only regret from this hunt is that I don't have a picture of both of us behind OUR goat. Without his assistance I would either be dead or still breaking down the goat.

Stepping up onto the shelf we dug.

Muleman, great post about your brother. Touched me a bit, because my brother-in-law has been on some very important hunts with me. Although both our names aren't on the tag tags, we both share sheep, elk and a couple of great mule deer. There's hunting buddies, then there is guys you trust your life, your luck and your secrets to. Sounds like your brother is one of those guys.

X2 on a priceless friend/ brother

Awesome hunt!! My wife has been putting in for that unit and I was afraid it was all shot out. Good to hear there are a few good ones left in there. Hopefully she draws soon. A Goat hunt is one of my all time dream hunts.

Way to go on a great billy!!

Still some good goats up there. The three goats that I know of a so far this year are a 10", my 9-5/8", and a 9". There were two more goats on my short list with big bodies and 9+ horns.

Just getting around to going through the several hundred pictures and video I have from the hunt. I still have some to get from my brother.

Here are a few of my favorites.

I hope my wife draws soon. Probably won't, but one can dream.

If she does maybe I can talk you into helping identify a shooter.

Congrats again. Super jealous.

I purposely only saw two nannies where I was hunting. I'm putting together an email for you with maps. We can talk after the email to get you 100% dialed in.
