So I think I've talked myself into needing a pair. My glove setup is pretty minimal but warm - FL full finger talus merino touch gloves under FL fingerless talus merino gloves. This is a toasty setup but would not buck wind very well. So, in a quest to add a light glove for glassing to the pack I started looking at down mittens. So far I've found 3 viable options (prices shipped):

EE Stronghold Mittens Stock - $65 - 2.25 oz - 4oz apex insulation
FL Brooks Glassing Mitt DE - $78 - 3.5 oz - 800fp 37.5 downtek insulation
OR Transcendent Mittens - $47 - 3.8 oz - 650fp goose down

Thoughts?
Try some Hestra liners, primaloft instead of down, so way better in a wet humid cold environment. They are like sleeping bags for your hands

My fingers alway freeze with even the best of gloves. I purchased the down glassing mits from kuiu....best purchase ever. It’s like putting my hand in little ovens! They are crazy light and pack down to nothing. Worth every penny.

I bought some OR down mitts this fall. Brought them on 2 cold hunts and left them at home on 1, man k cursed and said I would never do that again. Amazing how they can warm you up and make a hunt so much more enjoyable. Any cold weather hunt from now on they will come with.

I use the Kuiu Northstar Glomits down to -20C all the time when taking the dog out for walks/hiking with zero issues. I'd go lower with the temps, but that typically means I am not bringing the dog out as she gets cold after -20 and can only handle about 20 mins out side.

I have two pairs of the Strongholds- 2 oz for earlier season, 4 oz for later- these are over a light glove and if need be, under a goretex overmitt

this system has worked out well for me, they now have flip top ones which would work even better :)

IMO, those FL down mitts are NOT good, and their fill is similar to the OR mitts. I'm sorry to say, but for me anyways, they are terrible. Caveat that with, I run cold. Even with OR liners my fingers go numb in the 20s after about 30 mins. But, they are super light and super packable.

If you can stomach the weight, look at the leather/insulated kinco mitts

I'll make you a great deal on my FL mitts if you want to try them out for cheap, shoot me a PM.

I have a pair of the ORs and have used them in single digits and they were warm to the point I couldn’t use them moving. I absolutely would buy them over the FLs given the price point and I like FL gear. Other than then brand label on the gloves you can’t tell them part.
I bought a size up from what I normally would.
