Don’t bother with Hornady 22-250 brass…

I want to add a pic of a piece of Hornady brass I just noticed. This is 2x fired brass and I’m 1 grain under book max with round primers, so there is no high pressure here. 6.5 cm

Glad I saw this, was considering pulling the trigger on some of this on sale at midsouth.

I've heard ppu is a decent cheaper choice.
I keep wondering when someones going to finally address this quality 22-250 brass shortage that's been going on for years seemingly, hint hint starline etc.

Glad to hear Hornady is trying to make it right. I haven’t had issues with their brass, but stuff happens. For my 22-250 AI, I used PPU brass and it worked great.

What he said... of all the brass makers i love hornady the least.

My life is the opposite of what they said. Of all the mass produced trash brass hornady is the one that has given me the least issues. Starline, Norma, PPU, Rem, Win have all given me majors fits at one time or another.

Hornady was always my brass of last resort.....The non-annealed stuff was always too soft and the annealed stuff was too brittle in my experience.

I'm new to reloading and have also been seeing quite a few split necks on Hornady brass shooting 243 win. I started with 100 factory rounds fired and reloaded them with 41.0g H4350 and 108 ELDM's. I used 5 rounds setting my resizing die and making a dummy round. Out of the 95 I cracked the necked on 3. Tossed those out and reloaded the rest for 3rd firing with 40g H4350. Lost 2 more to cracked necks out of this group. Not as bad as pictured above but still frustrating for new reloader.

I've purchased some new Hornady brass and it all had to be resized before loading. Think I will move to higher quality brass after I use this stuff up.

I know this is an older thread and many of us are on notification lists, but just in case… Bruno’s has a shipment of Lapua 22-250 brass en route. They are taking orders and state they will ship immediately upon arrival.

I have no affiliation with them, just thought I would pass the info along.
