I am tired of my big agnes bag. I want one good bag but have already spent near my budget for the year. However for sleeping I decided to go for it. I am looking at the kifaru slick bags. I am 6' 215 and wear a 42-44 coat. Any idea on size.
I was also wondering about temp ratings. If I use my woobie in the 20 degree bag would I be able to cover trmps from 0 to 50. I am a warm sleeper. As always thanks for the great help

Id say with a 20 degree and slick you could get down below 20 as far as 0 hard to say. The new Woobie's have Apex Primaloft instead of the combat so they are said to be pretty warm compared to the combat Primoloft.

I've used an older 20*slickbag(side zip) with a woobie on top of it in a bivy... Wasn't enough for me when it hit single digits and I'm a pretty warm sleeper.

Used it last season and forgot that I wanted to go a different route

I just spent ten of my best back country nights in a lost ranger 15. I absolutely love it. What do you not like

Tried with an older slick and woobie and I was cold. Can't speak for the new insulation. Also, I assumed the way the site read that extra roomy normal size would work for me. Turns out I needed the wider bag. I have since switched to an insulated pad with a down quilt. This gets me down to 20 toasty warm. Any colder and I add my hpg serape.

I would seriously consider an EE quilt given your size. I've been down the road you're on and the EEs are head & shoulders above the alternatives for us bigger guys. Just be sure you have a properly insulated mat. Cut weight, bulk and stay warm.

I'll look at the quilts. How do they handle temperatures in wide ranges

What about the revelation or convert any preference on which one to go with and what fill and temp rating

I found quilts when I tried out hammocks. No longer camp in the hammock, but I kept the quilt. Don't recall the brand, but I believe it was 800 fill and over stuffed. Has snaps to create a foot box. Found this handy for keeping my feet from popping out at night. My pad is a exped with down insulation. I'm a large guy, but I went with the small pad. Found that the extra long/wide pad was just huge. System works very well for me.

i really wanted to love my 20 slick. but i absolutely froze my butt in mild temps. i was a 44 suit size and the regular felt really tight. grabbiest zipper of any bag i owned too..probably because i was too fat for the thing. :)

i'm a cold sleeper. my WM 20 is much better, i took it down to the single digits.. and just got a chill in the wee hours of the morning..woke up to ice on my bag. i think my heat was coming thru and the moisture was freezing on me. i am a wuss sleeper, so your mileage may vary.

I'm a hammock guy too, the quilts are true to their rating but I always select a quilt that is 10-20 degrees warmer than the forecasted weather. You can vent em, strip off clothes, stick a leg out but you cannot make em warmer. I too use an EXPED mat, the UL9LW. Great match.
