Might be a dumb question. My dog loves hanging out with us out on the range but we don’t want to ruin her hearing early on. We normally keep her in the truck while it’s running to circulate and maintain a comfortable temp for her so she’s not exposed to the loud shots. When range is clear we let her out for a bit then right back in the truck she goes. But im wondering anyone have any recommendations on what we can use to protect her ears and let her stay out of the truck while we shoot? I was looking in to the Rex hearing protection for her but the price tag is just a little intimidating if they are no good . Sorry if this is the wrong forum to ask this question.

Leave the dog at home when you target practice.

The only times dogs should be around gun fire are for active hunt training and actual hunting.

Same. I shoot at home a lot and make it a point to leave the dog in the house. He doesn't help my shooting in any way, any more than he 'helps' feed the cows and pigs (or heaven forbid he's around to 'help' move them between pastures). No thank you.

But if I was doing day trips to public lands I could see the desire to have her along. Not sure what to tell you, honestly.

I leave my dog home when I go to the local range. When I go shooting at the farm, I let her run around with the farm dogs while I shoot suppressed and just maintain awareness of her location.
