What will be catastrophic first if it bites me in the butt? I know it’s significantly over max compared to the reloading book but I’ve been seeing a lot of guys on the forums running 69-71 grs. Idk velocity yet. Will chrono tomorrow.

I don't know. Maybe nothing catastrophic, but probably short case life due to enlarged primer pockets. Possibly a blanked primer.

Yes, primer on middle case far right row has createring. Having ignored similar, then on fresh (not work hardened by multiple loadings) brass I blew primers and the case heads expanded to the point of no longer fitting in the shell holding. I would back down a touch and call it good personally.

I was being facetious. I think I saw some cratering on some primers, but that was it. Just reminds me that the 7prc is like trying to “refine” Pierce Brosnan (the 7rem mag).

I don’t pay much attention to primer appearance as a pressure sign.

Velocity, ejector marks, bolt lift, in that order.

Ambient temperature can play a role also.

If your barrel is 24", I'd say you're at max saami pressure. You're probably good to go, but keep an eye on things going forward. If you see the velocity climb or you see pressure signs, reduce the powder charge.

The upper two fired casing are showing pressure signs. The radius around the primer is almost gone. Your brass will not last very long.


It's also possible you had Case lube residual.
Or you could have left your chamber juicy.
That can cause the same issue.
If the rifle was warm when those two were fired, or if you let them cook in the chamber that could be cause for concern.
It's also possible you had residual oil in the barrel from cleaning. The first one or two shots can be higher pressure when you do that. Even if your chamber is dry.
