Do you carry your sidearm loaded?

I almost always carry in the woods and regularly around town as well. Usually some form of a Glock. Most of my friends do as well and I just learned that more than half are packing but not one in the pipe. I really don’t see the point of packing without one in the chamber, actually never even thought about packing a gun without one in the chamber.
What is everyone on here doing?

On me? Well yea..

Now just stashed in the pickup..I'm not comfortable having one chambered when I'm not in control of it.

I am however more at ease with revolvers,1911's, and most cz's than I am with one of the plastic fantastics

I carry 99% for lions when shed hunting…
The odds are already stacked in the cats favor, so always chambered, always in a chest holster.

An unloaded one (one not in the chamber) is as useful as a dull stick.
Lots of people say they can rack one in if needed but the way most situations happen they are over in the bling of an eye and lots can happen in the time it even takes to clear the holster. Those fractions of seconds matter.
I used to train people and would give them a Glock loaded with wax bullets and myself or another trainer would be holding either another gun with them or a dull training knife and we would go over all kinds of events that happen during a street or home invasion.
The 21 foot rule put fear into lots and the ones that still thought it was unsafe to carry one in the chamber always died as they aren’t as fast as they think they are. Even the guys that carry for years were shocked.
the best ones to help train were the police officers , they all were humbled quickly.

The biggest thing we would drill into everyone was that unless your finger is on the trigger, the gun will not go off(outside a P320) and that the mechanical safety in the gun are fine but even if they fail your finger is the most important one.

My daily carry is a 9mm Dan Wesson V-Bob valor 1911 in appendix carry occasionally swapped to an early Delta Elite in 10mm and trust all the 1911 safeties with my important bits

In short, carry one in chamber and don’t mess with the trigger

I do. Some people probably don’t feel comfortable carrying hot due to lack of training. I don’t knock them for that. Most people evolve. At least they are packing.

I find it a little over the top to say one is needed hot in the pot.

If you practice an Israeli slingshot at the range it becomes second nature.

I also carry my Glock 36 in a small of back holster. There is no way I’m holstering a hot round weapon into a soft holster when I can’t see it. Unnecessary risk.

I have loaded a ready round twice from that position. Once on a trespasser in my back yard and once when I thought I was about to be carjacked in Atlanta. Both times I had plenty of time.

Can I beat a trained gun slinger? Probably not, but I can probably best most people bc I stay aware, I’m paranoid, and I’m not ethically challenged.

I carry hot with all guns that have an external safety. I don’t trust the Glocks or Sigs in appendix carry without an external safety.

I'm not planning on clubbing a bear. If I don't think I'm going to need it, I leave it at home. That's a pound or two of weight I can do without. If I think I'm going to need it, it's loaded.
