I don’t really care either way but I don’t think many of you understand the point of a promo code for NEW customers. The point is to get you to try the product so that you can then decide if it’s still worth it for you to purchase at the regular price. It seems OnX has been really good in honoring the promo code even for existing customers, but they certainly don’t have to. Some of you are saying “they should give their existing customer the lowest price!”. Ummm, so you’re saying they should charge first time customers more? Lol. Anyways, just thought it was funny.

I honestly think the answer lies in providing the lowest price possible that allows profit and healthy company, its should be the same for all customers. If your product has value then your customers will recognize it and patronize your services.

Yea I agree with this for the most part. But then it becomes a question of what is the lowest price? Is it just $99 and you can never get a lower price? Or is it $99 most of the time, but $79 to get new customers and then have them stick around for the regular price because the product is worth it. Or is it that if you aren’t bringing new customers with a low price promo, then it’s going to be $129 to be profitable because there are less customers? Or is it $79 all the time and they just want more profit so they go up to $99? Who knows. The point is a promo code is to bring new customers who may normally not purchase the product. It doesn’t mean they don’t care about existing customers. And hey I’ll admit, it annoys me too! But I understand why it is the way it is and don’t necessarily think it warrants a discussion. But it is a discussion forum so have at it!

When I look at the bang I get for my buck when big game hunting out west the OnX fee is peanuts in the grand scheme of cost. I just did three round trips out west solo DIY hunts. One fill up of my Duramax is a year of OnX.

Perhaps he should have read the details of the promotion before he signed up. Weird. That would have alleviated this entire situation. It was a PROMO, he admitted that himself. I swear, people complain about everything these days. $20 is like 4 cups of coffee, or a quarter tank of gas. As much as I use OnX i'm not gonna complain about the services they provide. I pay more now than I used to, but the same goes with everything. Perhaps he should stop at the gas station and tell them gas was cheaper this time last year and he wants them to match that price.

This! Gaia is 39.99 per year for the entire USA. It’s a no brainer.

Just to be clear, mine was a redemption code (from camofire) rather than a promo code

If they are going to automatically renew it should be at the original sign up price, in my opinion.

Companies run promotional all the time, it's how they attract new customers on the fence and grow their business.

If it isn't worth the price, their prices will adjust accordingly in the future as demand falls off. I can see for a guy who hunts his same in state honey holes every year why the fee isn't worth it. For guys who hunt 75-100 days a year and travel to a half dozen states annually, $100 a year is a no brainer to always have access to public/private, who owns what, a cache of your spots in different states, etc.

I remember when gas was under a $1 a gallon. Perhaps I should bring that up when I fill up next time. It's the same stuff I was getting before. I think people should read the full details of anything they sign up for BEFORE signing. It's pretty clear in the agreement what the price is going to be.

Those promotional periods are used to bring in new customers, not reward existing customers. It certainly wouldn't hurt to call, as I'm sure they'll knock some off for you, but is it really worth it? If all of their existing customers did that, then what's the point in charging $99 in the first place.

They reward their existing customers by providing a solid product, that's good enough for me.

Your argument makes no sense in any universe. You are agreeing to have your card charged for a certain amount. If that fee is to be increased the next time your card is charged, you should be notified. Any reputable company that truly has the customer and not the dollar first in their mind would do so. When you are getting gas you make a conscious decision just before you pay. How would you like it if the price went up while you were pumping? Heck, even insurance and cable companies warn you about price increases.

If this were so they would not hand out discount codes to spread to any hunter on any show or on any team. Its almost like they increase the price so people can give out codes and they can still get the price on everyone and the people who dont have a code are really getting it handed to them.

If it was just for new customers, that would be in the writing and no one else would get the discount.

Terms of use | onX

Everything you have stated is in the Terms and Conditions...which you agree to before purchasing.

So it says right here, if your membership fee is to increase they will notify you, buy your fee doesnt technically increase because you are using a discount code.

And, like many companies that put $ first, the hide all this in 20 pages to read.

It also states that rate will increase when promo ends.

Its actually one of the most straight forward Terms and Conditions I have read in awhile.
