I did the OnX Elite for all states for $79 promo last year. Once they get your credit card they renew you at the full $99 price. I just got the statement. Seems like there are discounts everywhere for OnX, should I call and complain?

They are acting like the cable and cell companies and only rewarding new customers.

So...you are not sure if you should call and complain but you come to a forum to complain?

Call or just dont renew and then use a promo code for a new subscription.

Thank said they seem like good guys I would think they would apply a promo code for a customer

No, just looking for reasonable advice whether I am out of line in expecting a discount when you can cancel and reapply and get it.

I would call them and (cordially) ask if they would honor a new promo code. They will probably end up giving you a credit back.

yeah i hate that, the couple of gun/hunting magazines i have all do that. i just look for a current deal, call them and ask them to honor it or i will cancel, they always have. but why make a long term customer go thru this crap and why not reward them with the lowest price to keep them?

^^^^^^Whoa, take it easy! His original posts literally says "Should I call" which certainly sounds like he is asking a question and not complaining.

I am not trying to be an ass but it literally says "should I call and complain" not "should I call and ask about applying the discount."

you know what, he should call and complain. companies should give their existing customers their best pricing and service, not just take them for granted and make them have to call to get their best price.

I'm guessing if you read the terms and conditions of the promo offer it stated you would automatically get renewed at regular rate. If so, you have no beef. If not then call.

Call and tell them it is cheaper to buy the membership on Camofire and just start a new membership. I called my satellite TV company every 6 months so they would continue giving me their TV service at, what I considered, a fair price. Worked for 5 years or so and then 6 months ago they said there were no longer any more discounts I could receive, so I would have to pay full price. I think that is entirely too expensive, so I dropped their service and switched providers. Just got an email saying how they want me back and now have discounts. I think it is a way to take advantage of the people who are too lazy to call or honestly have no idea they could be getting it for cheaper.

I don't really understand the demand for OnX. The private/ public land info is publicly available and the files are around for Garmin maps if you look. Or, you can pay once for a file that goes with Backcountry Navigator. I even have access to a buddies account and don't even use it.

Use it for 5 years and pay $500? I buy a lot of gear and things but the value doesn't seem to be there IMO.

I had a similar issue - I renewed with a code about 2 weeks before i was set to auto-renew. I turned off the auto-renew but the somehow it still went though. Called and had my refund immediately.

I did get a chuckle when i got an email the next day with instructions on how to cancel auto renew that were exactly what i had done
