Do engineers have a sense of humor?

I worked in trades for 4 years before going to college and then went to school for an engineering degree while continuing to work trades to pay for school. It is valuable experience to have as an engineer but I still find the comments that engineers should spend years in the trades to be a little amusing. Engineers often have to deal with constraints that contractors don't know about or understand.

Contractors are generally full of themselves and nobody is ever right except them. I learn a lot from good contractors that can string an intelligent sentence together and explain their methods and approach. I learn nothing from contractors who can only spew half sentences between bouts of profanity and say things like "if I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't understand". I work with and accommodate the former, I quote code and contract specifications to the latter.
