Do Elk Hunters also like to hunt Whitetail?

I've seen a bunch of threads where someone will post that they are going elk hunting for the first time and want suggestions on where to go and yada yada. I get it, gotta start somewhere. But I also get that there are many people that don't like sharing that kind of info with strangers. So here's what I'm proposing.

Yes, I am "that guy" that doesn't know much about elk hunting but planning a diy hunt in Colorado or Utah, but would also be open to suggestions to any other OTC states that you may know about.

But here's what I would offer up to anyone that is willing to contact me via pm or phone and help point me in the right path of finding some elk on public lands. I would offer to do the exact same for you in Kansas for world class whitetail. If logistics worked, I would also be more than willing to try and get in a few hunts with you hunting on some of my private farms. If your not anywhere local, I'm more than willing to go set trail cameras, mineral, etc for you and maintain them throughout the year and also send you pictures anytime you determine that you'd like me to go check your camera's for you. I can provide logistical help with your meat and taxidermy as well. If you know a thing or two about elk and think this is something you'd be interested in, please pm me. If not, then have a great season.

I love to hunt whitetail! I got my spots though.

Hunt trades have been done, not a new concept. Just a caveat to watch yourself, I know the rules can get a bit ambiguous with what is considered outfitting. If you are a letter of the law type of guy, not legal in some situations.

People will always look for the easy way out asking for spots. My rule is to conduct exhaustive google searches and make sure any of my potential areas are NOT recommended on the internet. You can literally throw a dart at a map of public land in Central-Western CO and hit within a couple miles of good elk hunting. It's so much more rewarding in my opinion to do it yourself.

Not far from you (Tulsa), I am far from an expert but could give you some ideas. Wouldn't need anything in return.

BTW...do like to hunt whitetails, but think about elk every day in some way shape or form.

PM me.

Been a OK whitetail hunter for years but since I caught the elk bug a couple of years ago (and taking my first trip last year) I'm obsessed with elk hunting. Suffered thru the '15 whitetail season thinking about CO and elk every minute I was in the stand.

I have my annual whitetail hunt with my dad for filling the freezer. Hunting them is so much different that elk for me, pushing cooleys (sp?) vs climbing mountains. Elk also seem to dominate my thoughts.

An aside, we call brushy draws, usually with a creek, a cooley. I think that's a regional thing but can't seem to figure out how to spell it.

I'm a whitetail guy, elk are my nemesis! And that's after being blessed with being able to call myself a Montana boy. My old man never took me elk hunting, he'd shoot a couple elk with friends but he only took me maybe six times as a kid. However he'd always take me deer hunting South of Havre on my uncles ranch. So now I'm pretty good at deer, nothing huge by any means, but deer are easy for me and God is good to me when I go deer hunting. So now I'm 28, trying to get my first elk lol. Kinda sad for a Montanan.

I love elk hunting. Problem is that I live in Vermont. Couldn't afford to pay for an elk hunt so I worked at it and got hired on as an elk camp hand in Wyoming but the outfitter saw that I knew enough about elk that he sent me out with a hunter. After we filled his tag, he sent me out with another and thus I became a guide. Was very fortunate to get to spend 10 years doing that till our children got older and my wife "encouraged" me to spend time with them and their fall sports schedules. Wolves pretty much devastated the area that I was working in and I have gotten busy with life and haven't gone back to guiding. Am hoping to head out to Idaho this fall and smell the wonderful smell of a rutted up bull and hear the wonderful sound of an elk bugle. I also love hunting whitetails. Don't have my finger on a place to hunt elk for sure this fall but if you can give me some time to figure out a new area, I'd love to work out a swap/hunt with you.
Thanks for making the offer.
