DIY UL Rifle Carrier for pack

Got bored and whipped up this w/ some spare strap.
Pretty much copied the Stone Glacier rifle carrier.
Not sure how I feel about trusting my rifle to a Quick-Release cam buckle, but I'll give it a try and see what I think. Might add a std snap-lock buckle a little lower down as a safe guard for when I don't need/want the QD feature of the cam buckle. That would also give me a way to "test it" w/o risking the rifle.
Anyway it's rapid deploy, weighs all of a couple ounces, and a lot lighter than other rifle scabbard/carriers.

I don't trust the cam buckles either... would be much more comfortable with a side release. My kimber has some rash from falling out of a gunbearer, and several buddies have had rifles pop out while busting brush. I'm a fan of more retention personally...

Hum, not what I wanted to hear about the cam buckles. Looks like my gut instinct was right. But fortunately things aren't as knarly down here as they are up there. But I better run my breast strap through the sling. I'd cry if my .338 fell to the ground. And like I mentioned above I think I'll add a snap lock buckle as I fail-safe for when I don't need QD. Maybe if I do it right, I could still reach the snap-lock.

My cam buckle thing might have been operator error too. Personally though, I have always found that quick deployment is a second priority to making sure the damn thing doesn't fall off.
