I made this pack for one of my best friends. He upgraded from a MR Beartooth to a SG X-curve. He wanted a day pack that he could use elk hunting and take off the frame for whitetail. I made everything except for the shoulder straps, which just come off the X-curve.

I was under a time crunch, so I didn't get to add as many interior pockets as I would have liked, but it turned out better than I expected. I got a Juki DU-1181N this past year, and this was the first real project with it. I also started cutting the fabric and webbing with a hot knife, and boy did that make things easier and sealed the edges all at once.

The internal frame is HDPE, and 7075 Aluminum stays when the pack is used alone.

I can totally relate. Sometimes it's hard to find a good block of time to devote to sewing, so I wait for one to arrive or I create some. Those that I create tend to be because it's crunch time before I will actually need said item.

Did you use polyester seatbelt webbing on the belt? Any issues with that slick material slipping through the ladder lock?

Yes, it's seatbelt webbing. It was the only black 2" webbing that I had on hand. I used these Duraflex techno grab 2 buckles for the hipbelt, and these grab really well. No slip at all.

Very well done. Solid work. A ton of time went into that.
