I bought a Swarovski STX last season but didn’t want to drop the money on their stay in covers. I finally got around to ordering some neoprene and started patterning for it. This is my first draft. I think I’ll still add a cover for the eye piece. And thinking about building another with contact cement to eliminate the seams.8A6C2A90-F26F-49B9-A3D1-EDB06BD17281.jpeg7C962BA5-AD0C-4BFA-91A8-E48F343CC60C.jpeg9111E739-788F-463E-898C-B5749C431560.jpegF7DE2821-8582-4445-A392-9FD2B78DD000.jpeg29107D8F-850A-4434-81C8-6441B5E1A907.jpegD90D6594-E882-4CE5-B726-D9E4FCDE33DC.jpeg

What type of thread did you use and what size needle/foot type? This is a great idea I need one for my spotter and my wife is a bad ass seamstress.

This is the setup for sewing 500d, probably not the best die neoprene but definitely strong. But needle size is 130/21 and thread size is 70.

neoprene is tricky. I’m using a needle feed machine. I turned the tension way down and lifted the foot slightly.

Here's the one I made from 2 neoprene knee sleeves. One fit my vortex 85mm perfectly. The tripod adapter fit through the knee hole, and a little trimming for the focus knobs. I cut the other sleeve for the lens covers.20190817_140546.jpg20190817_140608.jpg

I didn't make this case but if a guy had the skills to replicate, they could make a fortune selling them on the classifieds here.

Looking at it, do you think it's possible to make something similar with nothing more than the wife's 150 dollar sewing machine?
The right person can make just about anything with a cheap sewing machine. A better question is are YOU able to make this with your wife's machine?

There is a lot of design, sewing time and materials that went into the one you pictured.
Give it a shot... Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Take your time and have fun.

Where did you get the neoprene from? I have been wanting to make something similar since I got my spotter, just waiting to get the sewing machine from the mother in-law.

FYI, I just throw a neoprene coozy over my Swaro eyepiece and it fits excellent. Easy to slip off and the stupid rubber Swaro cover stays in place with the coozy holding it down.

I gave up on 1 piece stay on covers for angled sporters. None of them accommodate using the rotating collar more than a few degrees. A 2 piece is what you need, but I haven't seen any available unless you have an ATX.

I wrapped my ATS with vet wrap, it works good enough and is light weight.

Figured I’d rekindle this thread seeing as I decided to make a cover for my kowa 883. I had a mishap last fall and had to have it sent in for some repairs…hopefully the added protection will help keep that from being an issue again.

Great work! Do you run anything to cover the eye piece?

I don’t. I typically have my spotter wrapped in a layer or in the center of my main bag anyways. I like the eyepiece to be easily accessible when I’m using it so I just protect the body.

Can Rokslide do a Group Buy of custom neoprene scope covers using ribbed neoprene for our scoping pleasure?

@as.ks.ak

Question- what brand/model/size is your eyepiece cover? Looks nice!
I might want to get one for my Kowa 88 as well.

That’s the MAGVIEW digiscoping adapter. It’s pretty slick. Super happy with it thus far.
