DIY spotter cover?

For you guys that use vet wrap have any of you weighted before and after to see how much it adds? I started using a thick wool sock on my 77mm kowa when I first got it, but quickly got tired of messing with it and have been using it without a cover for the last 3 or 4 years now. I’ve thought about vet wrap a few times but just haven’t tried it yet.
I only used 1/2 a roll to cover the TSN-66s. I just found the other half and weighed it on the wife's postal scale.... .785oz

Have never regretted buying a built for purpose stay on case for my swaro spotter. 20 years and as good as the day I bought it. Gives more protection than tape I think.
I have stay on covers for a TSN-554 and TSN-884. Covers for the TSN-66s arent/weren't available when I acquired it. The tape does as good a job without the cost and weight. I too dont regret buying the stay on covers, but given the option again, I'd go with the wrap.

More important than protecting the body from dings and scratches, the first thing I do for a new spotter is buy a quality sacrificial neutral filter, to protect the objective lens.

ok, you dudes inspired me.

I had a box of vet wrap laying around and covered what I could with a few passes. I also had a “spare” merino blend sock (I lost its match some time ago, don’t know why I was keeping it…). Made cuts where needed and tried to burn the edges to keep from fraying. Burning didn’t work too well but we’ll see how it lasts this year. Slid the sock over and it seems to fit pretty damn good. I appreciate all the responses. I kind of picked and pulled from them and came up with this for now.
