My father has the SimplySafe setup and seems to like it. Unfortunately I don't have many details though. I can add that one of the motion detectors went off once for no reason when they weren't home and the alarm went off and the police were called.

I'm using the dropcam now. Not the cheapest but sure is a piece of cake to setup and works excelloent. Talk about nontech user friendly. Just waiting for the new Dropcam Tabs to be released this summer which will communicate directly with the camera and greatly enhance the system, for only a few more bucks.

I have a long driveway that is gated and set up a trailcam that sends images right to my email. It really does nothing to stop anyone, but I can see if anyone comes on the property usually get a face and license plate.

Just went through this. Bought Honeywell 5100 from home security store. Bought door and window contacts off Amazon. Very easy to install. So far so good.

Thanks for the replies and keep them coming!! We have a dog and guns. I work steady nights and we spend considerable time away from our house. It sits off the road and you can 't see it along with any of the neighbors . It would give the wife a warm and fuzzy feeling to have a system. I am leaning towards the simplisafe system. I can start small and add to it and if we choose to we can have it monitored for $15 a month.

Look at the Cam systems Costco has. I am an electrician and I just installed one of these systems at a Hospital warehouse I remodeled near my home. Simple to install and the kits come with everything you need.

we had an issue down here at the beach and I asked leo about setting a trap.
not a good idea he said.
interesting one happened up the beach.
a fine young American goes into a pizza shop with a gun to get the loot. the employees jump him,get the gun away and beat him senseless. now the fine young American is taking them to court for excessive brutality and the judge has yet to toss the case.

hopefully .your security system will work for you. lord help you if you set a trap for said thugs or jump them.
