DIY Cooler handle

Anybody done a DIY cooler handle replacement? Had one break on an old igloo that I hate to give up on cuz it’s big enough for an elk…kind of thought about just putting a smaller carriage bolt and using it but figured y’all might have a more clever idea! Lol any ideas are appreciated!

Igloo sells replacement handles, hinges, and latches. My local Academy sells them.
