Have any of you ever made up your own bino chest rig? Something similar to a AGC, FHF, Marsupial, TandK, etc.? I'm thinking about trying to sew one up but wondering what I'm getting myself into.

THanks

I've been carrying my binoculars this year in a military surplus canteen pouch, that I've used the Molle webbing to attach to the front of a hill people gear chest rig. I didn't make it but I did repurpose it and it works really well is the perfect size for a set of 10x42s or bigger.

I'm a fan of the hill people your chest rig. I can drop my pack I still have my pistol my spray my knife my license and tags with a pen and my binoculars and a spare magazine for my pistol all in the chest rig with my binoculars.

I really hate the idea of that style of chest rig, I use a fairly heavy shock cord that X's at the back andrests some bino weight on my pack's sternum strap. Couldn't be easier to make and is radically less sweaty

I made some a couple years ago. It ended up taking quite a bit longer than I thought it would to get one I was happy with. I think I made a couple prototypes from just cheap fabric to get my sizing right, then I ended up making 4 with my actual materials (cordura, spacer mesh, buckles, ect.) before I got one that fit my binos right and I was happy with. I'll try to remember to post a couple pictures up in the next day or two of what I ended up with.

One I just keep my old diamondbacks in and the other fits my maven 11x45s pretty well along with my rangefinder. I’m happy with how it turned out, but might’ve been better off just buying one. That being said I enjoy diy projects and learned a lot from it. Decent chance I’ll end up making another down the road at some point.

I made my own FHF style harness awhile back, I use it all the time and am quite happy with it. Materials cost wasn’t huge but after factoring in my time I probably didn’t save any money over buying one and my workmanship isn’t the best. If you’re looking for a somewhat challenging but still relatively simple project I’d recommend doing it. 23F6B721-ADBD-4A75-9305-CAA479E7E40C.jpeg423D8212-E6BD-4E6C-BD27-BE1F8E1B65C4.jpeg6F917F9D-6C29-46C3-A705-D59F00FA14B2.jpeg

Looking to mod my gen 1 Kuiu bino harness to have the extra connection between harness and bino pack. Curious on where you sourced your strap material and buckles? Thanks.

I generally source materials from either Rocky Woods or Ripstop By The Roll, I think for that it was rockywoods. Both carry quality materials, it just depends on what you’re looking for or who’s cheaper.
