Anyone made their own chest rig for carrying a gun? Last year in Montana I carried on my pack on my hip. Found it a pain when dropping my pack. Having to remove holster and swap to my belt. Research other carrying methods and almost bought several options I have found in my research. Then I built my own. Not to step on any manufacturers toes but I found this quite easy and CHEAP....with minimal tools. I can quickly attach and remove it from my AGC Bino harness. And....I spent less than 20 bucks using an existing holster I had.

So I started with a blackhawk serpa holster and a small square of Kydex material. Only other part I needed was a 1" compression strap with buckle.......

The serpa holster is held to the paddle part with three mounting screws. Remove the holster from whatever mount it has. Now the three screws will be used to mount to the Kydex after the Kydex is cut out to size to accommodate mounting to AGC and for compression strap. I measures and Drew out a template on the Kydex and cut accordingly. I started with a paper template. Tools used for cutting was a jigsaw and Dremel tool. This holds my Glock 20 perfectly.....for 20....
I also used a small torch to quickly heat and contour the Kydex for a custom belly fit...

Hope this maybe helps some folks out with another option for Backcountry carry...if you like doing things yourself.

I wonder if you could integrate the holster strap into the lower bino harness straps and retain the rigidity. Maybe strap them in on your back side so it's keeps pressure in the holster.

Ragz, your saying move bottom Bino straps down to clip into the holster part? That would get rid of the extra strap. Good idea if it would hold rigid. Attach additional clips to Kydex that would mate to lower Bino straps. Just detach from Bino and move them down to holster. Good idea! May try that.

I was saying the reverse but I actually like your idea better. I could just see myself getting tired of having multiple straps around my body.

I did a similar one for Kimber K6s that no one made a holster for.

Here it is in progress, I just trimmed the back plate down a little, it seems to ride and draw fine without the extra strap.

I like it. Did you make the holster too? How did you attach holster to the back panel? Thanks for sharing.

No, I finally found a guy on eBay that did the Kydex holster. So I ordered a left hand version, took the belt clip off of it, drilled a third hole and used it and the two holes from belt clip to mount to my back panel. Ill snap and picture of the back of it.
