Are you talking CO? For me, being a non-resident, the OTC tags are no longer an option ... at least that's my understanding... if there are OTC opportunities for me as a non-res, I'd love to hear about them.

OTC 2nd and 3rd rifle season are available to NR

I was joking about the 180, there's a bunch of guys heading into the woods thinking it's 180 or bust when the reality is that's a crazy high bar for most people. You had another post indicating you had an early season rifle hunt. Did you not draw that hunt?

Unfortunately I did not. I thought it was a sure thing, since it has been a 100% draw nearly every year with one point less than I had.... I was quite surprised.

Might be for the best honestly if you aren't able to scout this season. Find some quakies and go to town on one of the later hunts if you can snag it.

Says a dad how has gotten his kiddo good tags it will still happen in 2028, they didn’t change the second draw at all. The new element will be the auto returned going to next in line

If you consider a flattops muzzleloader bull tag a "good tag".....well...ya got me....lol

Like I said, the days of good tags going to youth will be over in 2028. Also the leftover and re-issue lists will be ghost towns. All of those unpaid and returned tags will get picked up by the next person in line and will be torching their preference points. Which is how it should be. Hopefully it slows down point creep.

The days of getting tags for 0 points is coming to a close with only a slight crack left in the proverbial tag door for low point holders in the portion of the bonus draw starting in 2028.

It wasn't exactly what I wanted to see happen, but its close enough.

Are you putting a preference point for your first choice? Then listing your unit? That what i have been able to get away with for a long time. That was because it was a 50% chance with zero points. I could usually get drawn without burning any points. This year I got drawn by burned my points....

Negative. We hunted the flat tops.

I foresee 75% of people opting in to the next up. Tags are hard to get and people are getting more and more desperate for a tag every season.

I agree. Any adult applying in the secondary draw for one of the good tags is a fool.

FYI - I didn't jump in line with youth preference either. She didn't draw that elk tag on the secondary draw....

I would use it while you can ( youth preference) I was/am totally against it, and it will never help my kiddos but heck might as well get while the getting is good

My trio wont be getting any tags in Colorado this season. Just points across the board. Kiddo lucked out and got that LE Utah Mid-season rifle elk tag with 0 PP's on the random. That will be our trip this season. We went a little crazy last year and need to rein things in a bit this season with out of state hunts. It was too late to edit our applications so I had to go into the Colorado draws.

I'm crossing my fingers that we don't accidentally draw an elk or a pronghorn in Colorado right now. (Low odds in that happening but there is a small chance I could draw).

Re-issue is a crap shoot. Rumor has it that whoever has the best software gets the tag...
It's almost as if we should all keep our mouths shut and quit popularizing hunting all over the internet.

Brad there is always a chance at a tag on the reissue list. I’ve had some great hunts from reissue tags. And none were snagged with bots.

i will definitely be trying my luck in the secondary draw and with the re-issues, but not going to hold my breath. I'm also looking at some other potential options in other states that I didn't realize the deadlines had not yet passed.
