Different primers question

I found a load that my rifle really likes.

56 gr H1000
Berger 156 eol
CCI LRP primers

Problem is I can’t find anymore primers

I did get a box of Winchester LRP. Do I just load em and go? Or do I need to re “work” this load”

IME, different primers may move the avg velocity needle a little bit. Otherwise, I've never seen a noticeable effect on precision with decent sample sizes. If that charge is near pressure signs it may be worth shooting a quick pressure ladder to make sure it isn't too spicy with a new primer. Then I would load 10 up at a safe charge and go shoot a group over a chrono to check velocity data. If you don't have one just shoot the 10 to make sure it's acceptable and load the rest and true up at distance.

It can have an influence. If your near max load better safe than sorry.

Winchester LRP are much hotter than CCIs. ALWAYS work up loads. As an example with these two primers, I have a 338Fed and always used CCI LRPs with IMR4895. I was looking for a little more consistent velocities so I bought a sleeve of Win LRPs. I reduced the load from 47gr to 45 figuring that was enough. The 45gr load was hot to include a stiff bolt lift, flat primer and ejector marks. I just stayed with CCIs.

For changing lots of poweders, brass, bullets and primers, I like the method where you don’t wait until you run out, and then you load a backed off load with the current components and a backed off load with only the new component, and see if those line up on velocity, or what the difference is. Then, if I feel necessary, I’ll do pressure ladder, or if not, duplicate the normal load and see how it shoots/chronos.

That wasn’t the primer, something else was going on

Winchester has had a poor track record in recent years with primers fwiw. Proceed with caution.

If a primer change is causing issues with your load your probably on the heels of pressure to begin with. If I’m switching I just do a few and see, but I’m also not .2 grains from pressure.

Plenty of CCI-200's available from internet sale sources. Look on Ammoseek.com. Buy what you need for the next 10-15 years and be done with it.

Not a rifle, but did a primer test with my S&W 329PD (44 Mag). Winchester large pistol primers average 1029 FPS with a specific load. The same load with CCI large pistol primers was 1079, Federal large pistol primers averaged 1092. WLP load was what I had worked up, the others were slightly tight on ejection. Not as much margin with a smaller handgun case for error, but that's a notable difference in changing primers and pushed the load past the point of proper function.

So literally a 1% variation from the highest to lowest
In other words statistically irrelevant

I would rework to be safe. I recently switched lots for both primers (GM210) and powder (H1000) for my 6.5 PRC load and had to add 1 grain of powder to get back up to the same velocity. It very easily could have been the other way where I needed to reduce by 1 grain and would have been way over pressure had I loaded the same.

Double check your math, you come across as one who is on his game, giving you a shot to check the numbers. Share your corrected percentage and apply it to a 3000 fps rifle load. Not saying that's what it would be on the rifle load, but it puts in perspective primers are a legitimate and relevant variable.

I got a 162fps increase from avg in a 28 Nosler by switching from a CCI 250 to a Fed 215. I almost forgot about that but I made a post about it when it happened. But that's the worst I've ever seen, or heard of.

Check the numbers, not 1%... 6.1%. .. On a 3000 fps load that is 183 fps.

My 183 fps extrapolated on a 3000 fps load is not far off what you got.
