Diesel heater suggestion

Not sure what the starting W are but instead of buying a deep cycle 200AH battery, is anyone using a inverter generator to run these?
Seems like overkill/inefficient to run a gas engine and diesel engine. The electric requirements are so small but it would for sure work. I'm just gonna run mine on a little Jackery and I have two tiny inverter gennies.

If your gonna run a gen you might as well just use an electric heater. That's how we heat our FWC during a couple of cold trips where we need the gen for other things.

I was only thinking inverter because I have one but yes such a small amount of power needed, batteries would work great too I bet.

The genny could be used for other things as well, kills 2 stones with 1 bird. That was my thought

I'll bring one of mine for other things, but I also have solar to charge the Jackery and the solar works while I'm away from camp when I wouldn't want to run the gennie. Oddly enough the slow purr of the inverter gennies really helps me sleep at night so I suspect I'll miss it as I'd always run all night with my pop-up camper. If you don't already own the batteries then bringing the gennie will be cheaper than buying batteries since you mentioned you're already bringing the generator. Running it all night for the heater may mean bringing extra unleaded. Another thing to note is these diesel heaters apparently don't handle sudden power loss well without going through shutdown (I guess the heating element gets too hot without the fan?) so if you have a gennie issue or it runs out of fuel you could have other problems.

You can currently (sic) have an entire setup from Amazon for $275 right now.
Literally everything you need to heat up to a larger wall tent.

Last winter Amazon dropped the price of the LF Bros all in one units to silly levels so I bought the N2-T unit that's supposed to have automatic altitude adjustment. I just unboxed it last night and still need to test it. It's gonna be pretty great if it works as advertised without issues. I'll report back in October.
I bought this one based on this thread, I think @svivian also did too?

The instructions are dumbed down enough for me...

Does it matter if one uses the the screw in terminal posts on the back, or the lift door silver push connector in the front? I can go to a stand alone 12v lithium or Pecron power station this weekend. Eventually I will hardwire it into my big camper battery system.

I have ran one off of a generator when my power supply dropped below 12V and couldn’t make it through the start up cycle. Start up cycle pulls 120-140W then drops to 20-30W to run on mine. The one I have comes with a power cord for a standard battery or 110v that is easy to swap out. It wasn’t very efficient just because I burned a couple gallons of gas over night that wasn’t needed.

But it did give me an idea that’s way above my pay grade to figure out on my own. Either set it up so the heater goes through start up on generator power then be able to switch to battery power without killing the heater (not sure if this is even possible). That or set up a charging system for the battery while the generator is on, since I usually run the generator for a couple hours every night to make supper. Solar works to charge the batteries, but it would be nice to be able to take one or the other (shorter hunts with tents i don’t take a generator).

Watch the cap on those if traveling with diesel in the tank. Most will leak. You can use a ziploc bag over the spout and screw the cap over the top to help.

Don’t buy a cheap hot air pipe either. Look at the reviews on Amazon before buying to make sure it’s not off gassing like crazy with the heat

I just bought the stuff to put together my own power station. Using a 100ah lifepo4 battery in a little toolbox. Going to use Anderson connectors to run directly to 2 diesel heaters. I currently have a purchased power station so I have to use the 120v outlet to power them with an adjustable transformer. Losing a lot going from 12v to 110v back to 12v. Should give me 1200wh of run time.

The fuel tanks these things come with are garbage. I run mine off a small outboard tank instead. Takes more space, but will also run the heater for a very long time.
