Diesel heater suggestion

I'm just using the pipes it came with. I did buy an intake pipe so I could pull from air inside the tent thinking it would be more efficient intaking already warmed air but after testing it I don't think it'll be necessary.


If this thing works as intended I'll be super happy. I just had it plugged into a tiny NinjaBatt similar to a Jackery but way smaller and it pulled 13w to 25w the whole time but unfortunately didn't watch it on startup.

I just did 9 days archery hunting with mine out of a Kodiak 10x14 flexbow. Only used it for morning and nights to get changed and relax. Best purchase I’ve made in a while. The remote is so nice not having to get out of my bag to turn on some heat.

I did have one incident last season. I happened to have a CO monitor on the shelf in my trailer from when I used propane. One evening it started going off. I was a little confused but opened the doors anyway. On further investigation I found the heater was push exhaust out and what little air movement outside was bringing it right back to the heater intake and pushing it into my trailer. I ended up pointing the exhaust pipe straight into the air so no matter where the wind came from the hot exhaust was pushing up high and not circling right back

This will be in my 10x14 flexbow also. Did you just zip the heat hose into the doors or did you put in a stove jack of some sort? I still have time before our hunt so thinking about it...

I just ran the intake through the back door. Never burned the canvas but I also just ran it on low. It would cook you out of the tent if it was any higher.

Oh boy I just test fitted this thing and the whole entire kit, both hoses and all wires and everything fit in one of my DeWalt tool boxes and I can even fit the tray in there. This makes me smile.

I’m looking for a backup heating solution for my 10x15 wall tent. I usually use a wood stove, but with the fire ban likely lasting deep into October this year, I need an alternative.


I recently purchased a cheap Vevor 8kW diesel heater, and so far, I’m not impressed. The exhaust smokes heavily, and I’ve already had to replace the low-quality fuel lines.


Does anyone have recommendations for a mid-tier option? I’m not looking to spend $2,000 on a high-end unit since I might only use it occasionally. That said, if I find a unit that works well, I could see myself transitioning to a diesel heater instead of relying on a wood stove full time.

I've had one in a cargo trailer I built out as a base camp. I found if I left it running on low for hours and shut it off, it would blow white smoke and shut off with a error code the next time I tried to start it.
I figured out I could run it on low for hours and hours but ramp it up to high for about 15 minutes before shutting it off. That gets it hot and blows the soot out. After that it starts and runs fine, haven't had an issue in 3 or 4 years.

I have mine hooked to a deep cycle battery with 2-100w solar panels on the roof. I also run a 1000w Honda geny to keep the fridge and freezer cold. since I have the geny, I have a battery tender on the battery as well. That way the battery stays topped off no matter what.
I also have another battery to run all the other 12v stuff in the trailer. It also has a battery tender and both batteries are hooked to a (solar)charge controller on separate channels.

I picked up the hcaorie tbs2 for this winter. Do you guys run a fuel mixture (diesel kerosene) or anti gel when the temps get down around zero?

I've had it in high single digits and not had an issue but you could run #1 fuel if you were worried. Some diesel 911 wouldn't be a bad thing to keep around I suppose.

Can the oem harness handle the load on startup/cooldown? If you try, I would recommend having the truck running so you at least get 14 volts to reduce the amps some

Are you referring to running it off the trailer plug on a truck?
I can assure you that it will handle it since they are designed to handle an entire RV. The little that these heaters draw is not going to be even close to that.

Anyone run one off a set of deep cycle batteries wired in parallel? These have me curious for a heat source for a teepee hot tent truck camping. Feel free to message me if you have sone something similar with good results. Best wishes

That's how I have mine setup and ran it that way for a few years. I've recharged via a trickle charger off a generator and from solar. I can't remember my deep cycle battery sizes, but you can easily get a few days on them. Good place for information on the diesel heaters is ice fishing groups. That's where I learned everything from.
