Last year I ordered a Phelps diaphragm (pink one) directly from Phelps. I liked it so I ordered a second one as a backup for elk season from Black Ovis. (BO had free shipping so I thought I'd save a few bucks.) When I tried to use the B.O. call I could barely get the thing to squeak. Now this year I ordered a couple Rocky Mountain Raging Bull (brown one) diaphragms as they have always been a trusty and versatile call for me. This time through GoHunt (using points), instead of my traditional order through Rocky Mountain. The call was ok to start, a little weak on bugles. But now it seems to have worn out already, as it can no longer hold the high note in a bugle. I've NEVER had that issue with the Raging Bull with such little use.
So my question is, have any of you ever noticed quality differences in calls based on the retailer they come from?
