Who’s been out stomping through the desert looking for bucks?

I’m head out for a few days in July and August for an early season tag. It will be scorching hot but so will the September hunt.

Planning to bring a tarp, portable camp chair, shorts, sunscreen and lots of water! Any other thoughts to make summer glassing in the desert more bearable?

Sunflower seeds, and some powdered drink mixes made with a good electrolyte package. Maybe some suckers of some kind, atomic fireballs, gobstoppers, etc. I've noticed that with sunflower seeds especially, it seems to occupy my mind just barely enough, that it allows me to focus hard on glassing without getting bored or having my mind wander off the hunt.

Ill be heading out in a week and a half or so. Its gonna break 80F by 9am so we are spending the early am walking areas and checking for fresh signs and beds and will spend the hot hours scouting in the truck. You can freeze water bottles or fill them with ice so theyre ice cold when youre ready to drink them. You can carry your rifle too and a caller and try calling for coyotes if you need a break from glassing, I'll probably do that too.
