Deer do Sleep !!

I was messing with my dead spy point camera on my front lawn. Changed all the batteries. Dark outside, so I had my big flashlight. Finished up, I turn around, & there is a deer sleeping 20 feet from me!! I had the spot light on her for a minute, she didn't budge at all. Finally I go PSSST. and her ears pop up. But she still didn't really move around. I didn't want to get any closer to a wild deer, but I could have probably walked up to her.

Finally I go PSSST again, and then she realizes it's time to wake up, and see what's going on. Then eventually she stands up, and starts accessing the danger..

My yard deer are still plenty wild. Not tame at all. They know when Oct 1st rolls around : )

But I would figure they sleep with situational awareness. Otherwise they would be an easy victim.
