Dedicated NRL Hunter Forum?

Thought you didn't need to make power factor with factory ammo over 130gr? Or is that only for 6.5?

Definitely opens up a lot of options. I know my old Bergara b14 hmr would not make it, and that is a pretty popular gun that know should make it.
Only 6.5 and up.

Still wish there was an “I actually hunt with this gun (and not from a blind)” class. Not sure how you would enforce it, but something to try and embrace the “Hunter” component versus gamer guns.

No matter what rules they change, at the end of the day it’s always going to be a game. That doesn’t mean that it’s not fun or that you couldn’t still learn something from shooting one

It’d be cool but then you’d open up a whole new can of worms with 2 camps of people - the ones who hunt with the 8 lb 300 PRC’s and the ones like me who hunt with a 10 lb 22 creedmoor.

I would hunt with any of my LO guns, only change would be a low count mag. I’ve seen people at matches with 300 prc, 300 win mag, 7 prc, 6.5 prc etc. not sure why you need a more specialized class, run what you have and see how it stacks up. I shot a fun hunter games match which had no rifle limits essentially, I think 16 pound rule but no one weighed in. Lots of PRS setups. I shot my 13 pound rifle ( would make lo with different optics but didn’t feel like swapping them) Clayton, Mike and I each dropped two targets and were in a 3 way tie for first. I know Clayton was shooting a LO rig. My wife packed around a 6.5 prc this week looking for elk that weighed in just over 11 pounds. You can do very well with a light rifle but it’s competitive like anything so expect people to push things to find every advantage

I use the rifles i hunt with. I want to be very confident with my hunting setups. Learning the max effective ranges for these rifles and getting better at reading wind and positions is a big plus. Im not in it to win by any means.

I hunt with my NRL rifle. Only downside is the 24” barrel can be a pita in brushy country. But it’s lightweight, accurate, and easy to shoot. Only change is a flush fit magazine

Yea he would be real disappointed when I show up with the 10lb dasher.

I do understand PF though, if only for spotting. 22 and 6mm bullets on full size animal targets are not the easiest to spot.

Anyone running a decent scope that doesnt have a small floating dot, ffp and at least 3-18 power?
