Wife has given me the go ahead to make a purchase here soon. I am thinking about either a tent or a stove. Cannot do both, at least at this point in time.

Option #1: Buy a medium stove with a longer stove pipe then needed. Send my Mountainshelter LT to have a stove jack installed and run this setup until I can afford the cimmaron.

Option #2: Buy the cimmaron now, and save up to add the stove at a later date.

Any other options would be appreciated. What would you guys do?

I'd buy the more expensive option which is most likely the tent. A lot easier to save and budget and get the woman not to bitch later on buying the less expensive item. Also, with the new tent you can then sell the old one and start chipping away at the cost of the stove.

Be a man and start skimming off the top of your paychecks in secrecy like the rest of us so you don't have to get the old battle ax involved.

IMO get the cimmaron now, and keep your eyes peeled for a used stove you can buy at a considerable savings, which you can pass along to the wife.

Get the tent. Check out the DIY forum and you can make your own stove for pretty cheap that will work just fine or at least get you by until you decide you really need to buy a different one.

X2... on get the cimmaron now and build your own stove. Plus parts and a project under $100 are an easy sell to the wife.

Agree with everything above.

Be careful running a stove pipe that's excessively long (like you've described in option 1) it can be more harm than good. If high winds were to catch the extended pipe it can cause problems above and below the tarp line and knock you're stove around inside the shelter.

What's the coupon code on the free shipping? Do they have sales often? (Since I missed the 10% off sale)
