Dealing with Scammers and Venmo

Good morning fellow Rokslider’s

I’m looking for y’all’s experience / advice with scammers and Venmo. I made a purchase in a Facebook group where the seller agreed to me sending funds GS with buyer protection. Long story short it was a scam and the account ghosted.

I contacted Venmo sent them screen shots of everything and they have basically told me, sorry, contact your local LE. Has anyone has experience with this and actually gotten a reimbursement back from Venmo? Or is this just a Venmo scam in itself, us paying fees with no real buyer protections?

I THINK Venmo's buyer protection isn't the same as Paypal's despite being the same company. I could be wrong though.

I contacted Venmo by phone to clarify the email I received. The email was in reference to the $30 I sent FF for the shipping, the GS payment is still being disputed and if they do not respond to Venmo, the dispute will automatically go in my favor.

So more to come, hopefully good news.
