After spending a lot of time absorbing information off this website and getting connected with some great people, my buddy and I are headed to the Talkeetna mountains with Mike Meekins! This will be our first Alaskan Adventure! We are bow hunters out of Utah and will try to make it happen with archery tackle. There's not a whole lot of info on the area that DC590 covers. I'm looking for some people who have have flown into this area and can give us some expectations on country, caribou, bears, moose, well just about everything! Of course we would love to see some of the success pics to help make the time go by!!! We will be sure to share the story of our adventure and I will be making a video as well!

We'll be in field Aug 25 to Sep 2. May pick up some extra tags to take along as well, we are really looking forward to it. Will this be your first trip into the unit? Who are you flying in with?

Ill be flying in with Hawk Mountian Air. I couldnt get mike meekins to call me back. Yeah it will be my first time in there super pumped on it, I am debating buying a black bear tag just in case! Should be a really fun hunt, just debating weather to go bow or rifle.

I spent about a week during two trips up there. It is great country. A lot of the landing strips are either up on the top of ridges. Or in the bottom on the river valley. If you want some more information sent me a pm and I'll see if I can help.

We are taking both bow and rifle, We'll give it everything to have a successful archery hunt but seems like opportunities are few and far between out there so we wont be too picky! I think we'll be taking black bear tags as well, mainly because its good for mult species and who knows what opportunities arise when you're in the field!

Wife and I will be up there. Thinking 16-25 for us right now, she has the Caribou tag and I am going to chase brown/black bears. Once that is complete I have a DC485 tag to fill.

Talkeetna Mountains are my backyard so I have been in the area before, might do overnight hike in after break up and everything dries up.
