daypack with ventilation

I'm not looking for something that will pack out a quarter or anything, but I am looking for a daypack with around 2000 cu inches of capacity, a decent hipbelt, and some ventilation. I've looked at the Badlands Diablo and the Eberlestock X2, but I want to consider all my options. I've also considered some non-hunting packs like the Gregory Z30 and Deuter Futura.

Does anyone have a pack they particularly would recommend that will help keep my back from being totally drenched every time I hike?

I'm a huge Kifaru fan but for what you are doing I would grab my Osprey Stratus 34. It has a lot of ventilation since all that touches your back is a layer of mesh with air behind it. I've had up to 40lbs in it with good comfort.

I like the eberlestock x2 for purely daypack mode. You could haul a quarter in a pinch with it and it still has good ventilation and is very well made. Gregory and osprey in non hunting pack mfgs are solid but I would support eberlestock given the choice.

I have the Cabela's Bow and Rifle pack, and I think it fits what you're looking for almost perfectly. I really like the hipbelt and the suspension, but it's not a heavy-hauler by any means. Not sure about how tough it will be long term. It's not perfect, but it worked great for me during third rifle season in Colorado last fall. I really want to set it up with a Kifaru gun bearer, and then I think it'll be just about perfect for me.

I have a Badlands Diablo that has the "hypervent" feature. It does make the pack and load sit a little further away from your back, but I like having a drier back when I take my pack off. I have put about 40# in it and it carries that much load OK, though it does weigh your shoulders down quite a bit.
