Looks like the new expandable has dropped. What is everyone's initial thoughts? I was considering set of Evolution Hydes for my hunt this fall but I might try these instead.

I've never shot mechanicals but have been toying with the idea. The magnacut is cool but I don't think these would get me to switch from a fixed blade due to the 1 3/8 cut diameter. Not that it's a huge difference but I would have liked to have seen 1 1/2 or larger.

I agree. I wish it had a slightly larger cut.

I am very excited to try these this year as well, not that I had issues with what I was using, but Day Six has impressed me with everything they offer and good people in my experience too!

The materials are the best on the market without a doubt. O-rings are still my favorite deployment style.

I too would like to see a larger blade option. Maybe they'll come out with it as a whitetail head in the future. Add 5 grains for a larger blade

I like that the total cut is more like their wide head with big bleeders, but in a super compact form. Should fly really well and penetrate like crazy.

I'm not following your logic here. What's your current reason for not shooting mechanicals?

Cut diameter is perfect for better penetration.
I agree. I wouldn't want any more cut.

I'd rather see a rear-deploy style than a front-deploy head to maintain better pen.

Maybe Sevr will see the market for a coc tip and come out with a competitor. I still think Sevr 1.5 with a coc tip would be the perfect head.

I've still got enough heads for now, but I'll definitely be watching for reviews on these before ordering more Sevrs.

When it's closed it's only an 1/8" smaller then when it is open. It doesn't seem like it's much of a compact design. That said I like the was they look and the materials, I may have to give them a shot. People are complaining about the price, but for a quality head, and really the most important part of your setup, I don't think it's that bad IMO.

I ordered 6. Looks like the first mechanical I would be comfortable shooting at an elk. My arrow speed is bumping up a bit this season...so going to switch from Iron Wills.

I'm pretty excited to see these heads. I was just talking with a buddy and I think he's going to pull the trigger before me.... So I'll make sure that he likes them, then I'll probably buy some. They do seem like the perfect design for penetration and larger cutting diameter.

I would only gain 1/8” of cutting diameter from my current fixed blades so there just isn’t much advantage for me to switch. I’m not shooting long distances and can always get my fixed heads to tune. For myself, I really can’t see any advantages…

I got ya. Yea, if you're not shooting far and worried about wind drift, etc, I can see sticking with fixed. What fixed are you shooting?

For me expandable are more about being more forgiving to a less than perfect shot execution and less than perfect shot placement.

I get excited, I practice all year and shoot very well but me as the human element is the weakest link in the system.

Mechanical or expandable helps not make my poor shots worse.

These really remind me of an ATAC which ARE the best shooting fixed head I have found to date and I’ve pretty much shot everything.
