I thought I saw a vid where they said the packs were same other than stays, but on the phone he directed me away from the ul cause I was gonna haul weight?
Was he incorrect? Perhaps I just misunderstood him.....

He is correct, but that is still the only difference is the stays, for 10dollars more you can buy the arrow stays to switch out if you desire. The packs are so much more adjustable than what you are using now, even with your back you will be way better off that the stay weight difference isn't going to be a problem. That's why I was saying earlier, don't just relegate this to a daypack, it will carry the weight better than your pack frame you talk about getting for second trip to haul meat. This pack when adjusted right will be a game changer for you.

Yea the UL frame seemed like a good idea for me too until I loaded it down with weight. I immediately bought actual stays for my frame. The loss in comfort is not worth the weight loss!

Yes Old goat I decided on the woodsman bag to go bigger than a day pack if needed and if not just compress it. I already have in my Kifaru cart, my hunter frame with C/stays, woodsman bag,3 UL pull outs.

Trying to sell my last 2 packs and I am good to go.
I have an Az Muley archery hunt Jan1 so I need to get this all done quickly hopefully. Id love to use my new pack walking the draws of So Az. Will help me know a little more about it for the Utah Mtns next Aug.

Exo 2000! I have a Exo 2000 bag on a kifaru duplex frame, but regardless of which frame you get, the bag is paired with the Exo "crib" is exactly what you are looking for.

Just watch all the pack fit videos you can, the pack should come very close if not spot on in fit for the adjustments done with the pack off. Then how you don it is way more important than I ever realized before. First year I had mine, it was comfortable but not like I thought it would be, then the Gritty Bowmen podcasts came out and I caught onto a few tricks and my pack was way more comfortable. If you haven't watched the podcasts, you should check them out. Not all are applicable, but there are some really good ones and they are really entertaining videos too. I watch them via YouTube on my TV. Or you can go to Gritty Bowmen and there are links to the videos to watch on your computer. Lots of good gear info in various videos that might help you lighten up your kit also. My whole kill kit with five game bags and a havalon knife with extra blades probably weighs similar to what just two of my canvas quarter bags weigh etc. I've learned a lot through this website and the Grittybowmen!

Old Goat, I'm just gonna cal ya goat cause it sounds more respectful lol

I have seen the Gritty Bowmen pods which is what led me to Aron which is what introduced me to Kifaru, which is why I am on Rokslide.
lol

I have eliminated so much from packs as a result, didn't need 2 head lamps, 3 knives, 4 fire starter sources, 2 compasses, the whole roll of rope/string etc...

I am down over 6 pounds as a result plus some other things as well.
After watching those podcasts I almost started back country hunting but realized, I don't need all that. I have tagged out each of the last 3 years doing my hunt my way
Great info though

I'm 52 and been going by oldgoat for ten years, it has more to do with the rank I retired from the Navy than my age, but my age is starting to be more appropo to my screen name every day! Navy Chiefs are known as the "old goats" of the Navy as our age is usually much older than most of the sailors in a crew, and obviously the Navy mascot is a goat;-)

My wife is mid fifties, rheumatoid arthritis pretty bad, the UL pack was the ticket for hiking all day and not being sore from the pack itself! This is a buddy of mine, and that's an Apollo, it will handle the first quarter fine. Call Kifaru, cool people to talk too!

She does have rheumatoid arthritis, she looks pretty stiff😀.

I did not realize Kifaru only had 3 bare frame options. I didnt realize the Hunter version is the one they use for all their larger packs as well. With EberleStock they have several different set ups. I love the idea that the fram I am getting for day hunting is the same frame they use on 10 dayers in the mountains.

I was almost full drawn on one of them mountain "chickens" this year. I had been a few days up and gotten tired of canned food. It gave me tons of time, but I wasted 10 seconds in disbelief and then boom at full draw it was behind the trees. I didn't have any tips other than my Montec but pretty sure I was gonna get a pass thru. :)

I settled for getting 3 trout and frying them up on camp fire.
Dang I'm ready to get back up there- is it Aug yet?

My wife just asked what I wanted for Christmas, and I said I need a new pack. She said you just got 2 new ones for this year, and of course I replied but they aren't working for 100 miles of hiking. She said "send me a link"

Can I get an AMEN

So I am setting my sights on a new Kifaru, Hunter duplex with C/Stays -24" in Ranger Green. I almost went with the 26" but I am shrinking each year and am some where closer to 5-7 with a 19-20" torso and just think the 24" will still get the angle I needed loaded with an elk.

I will be now looking at the best bag, but my eyes are definitely on the woodsman, but lets see what 2017 brings to the table.
I'm pretty stoked right now !!!!!
