Day Pack Help

So my normal hunt is a heavy pack-in, 5-7 day hunt where I use my large pack/frame for a day pack. Making my first New Mexico bow hunt this year, private land so I'll only need enough room for a spotter, puffy, lunch, etc. Trying to find something that won't interfere with my draw, not worried about ability to haul heavy loads (for once!). I'm thinking +/- 1500 ci, needs to hold water, quiet would be a plus. Looked at some of the Badlands, Kuiu Icon Pro 1850. Ruled out the Kuiu Ultra 1800 because i'm not super-excited about a frame on a day pack. Any help or suggestions would be deeply appreciated!

Been looking for something similar. Think I will be pulling the trigger on the Tenzing 2220 they also have a 1500 model. Can't give you feedback but that is the one I'm looking at. It was that or the Eberlestock x2.

Jarhead, If you are not turned off by the fact that it is "Whitetail" pack, the "Cabela's Whitetail Day Hunting Pack" is a lot of pack for $99.

i really like my Kuiu 1850 for a day pack, i think the size is right on for what your talking about. My brother has a Badlands Super Day pack and it has some nice features. I've also had a Sitka Flash 20 pack before i got my 1850, it was nice but might be too big for the size your looking for. Sitka also make a smaller one you could check out called the Ascent 12.

I have a Pack Idaho first trip explorer that I love. Bison gear is the new name for the company. It's very comfortable, silent, functionally designed and very well built.

I've been using the Large Cabela's Elite Scout pack as a daypack for the past 11 years. I love that thing. 1500-1800ci and I use the long pocket on the back for my 3L bladder. I picked mine up for $50 on clearance back then. They've changed them a little from my model but I'm sure they still work well. I shoot with the pack on all the time.

I'm in the same boat as you. I use my exo for backpacking, heavy loads, meat hauling, etc, but I use a Tenzing tc 1500 as a daypack, and much prefer it when I am putting a stalk on, or brush busting.

I liked the HPG tara for what your describing. I could fit the basics in it. The shoulder harness is very comfortable. It is well made and a cool pack. But it gets hot. Its like a sack just right on your back. I started wanting a framed pack with some structure and ventilation after awhile.

Might want to have a look at the packs being offered from Kryptek made by Slumberjack. I've been using the Carbine model and it fit the bill nicely this season after having tried quite a few others.

I'm assuming you have some time before your hunt. If that's the case, Exo is coming out with a day pack this year that might fit your needs. My understanding, based on their announcement via their podcast, is that it will work with their frame so even though it's a small pack it could haul some meat between the pack and frame if you needed to.

I get you on not needing a detachable frame like a MR, Kuiu, Kifaru…. etc etc…. for strictly day hunts where you know your not going to need to break down game and haul it out on your back. Those long frames with stays sticking up past your ears can get annoying. I also found them a little cumbersome if I'm pulling it out of the back seat on the truck multiple times a day if I'm moving around lots.
Sooo. I've been looking at the Badlands Superday… Has a spotter pocket, lots of organization and not too heavy or tall. The material is quieter than the industry normal 500d cordura and has a the ability to carry a sidearm in the belt if thats applicable …. unfortunately not me up here in Canada.

I would just get a simple Osprey Exos 38 for around $130 and about 2.25 pounds.

I've used the kuiu 1850 with suspension only for these types of hunts the last two years. It works well.

most packs will fit each of us a little bit differently - I've not had the KUIU 1850 on my back YET but my main hunting partner replaced his Sitka with that KUIU 1851 with the CF "frame" and swears it's the most comfortable "anything" he's ever worn to hunt with

I will be selling a Badlands Stealth pack.
Max-1
Very light and quiet.
Handles hydration and gear, lashing outside for the puffy.
Let me know.
