What's your opinion? Are they worth $24 a pair? I just ordered a couple pairs of the Hiker merino wool boot socks. Lifetime warranty. Have to be pretty good I'm guessing?

I have a couple pair, not sure what model, they are some type of cushioned merino. They are nice. I don't remember what I paid for them but I don't think they are $24 nice. I can't say they are any better than the Lorpens I know I bought cheaper than that. Both are comfy and both have held out for a few years of regular use. They do have some type of lifetime guarantee but personally when they wear out I'll just buy new ones.

I paid $20/pair. They are the best socks I've ever worn. Better than smart wool, REI branded, & cabelas branded that I've worn. I just picked a coupe pairs up last Thursday and hunted over the weekend with them. There was no slippage, no hot spots, and most importantly no stink- I have some rank feet unfortunately and these things didn't even smell when i took them off. Won't buy another brand of sock anytime soon. Turned some family friends that are Outfitters/guides onto them, & they have nothing but good things to say.

Well considering you get to have the socks for the rest of your life I would say $24, which is a little high compared to pairs I've purchased, is still a good deal. I've been converting all of my socks over to Darn Tough and I have used their warranty to replace a pair that I wore through after a year of hard use, like worn and washed a few times a week.

I have several pairs of the Darn Tough 1403 socks. I wear them every day and have done so for the last 2 years. I'm in boots all day everyday of the week. I have not worn a pair out yet. I did snag a pair and tear a hole in the them. The were replaced for free.

I believe I have 9 pairs. 2 pairs stay in my hunting gear. The other seven I can run for 2 weeks. Example: I will turn today's pair inside out the end of the day so they can dry out, and will wear another pair tomorrow. This method lets me run them for 14 days before washing. In the field I can run 2 pairs for a long time like this. I usually have a 3rd pair just in case.

FWIW: the 1403's are a little warm in the summer

Hate em. Excessive nylon content is why they're so tough, but also why the moisture management sucks. Sweaty blister factories. High on my list of guaranteed pieces of crap.

Just got two pairs, lived in them for 6 days last week while I hunted mulies .....I have to say I thought they were pretty freaking great.

Any specific model or type you liked

I bought a pair each of 1462 and 1463. I got them on sale too...think they were like 28 shipped for both them. For a hunt that your coving lots of miles they were the cats ass, breathed well and held their form. I am on the look out for a few more pairs.

The 1402 or something like that Roy another member here said was good. I looked them up looked and sounded good too

Favorite socks but I never paid $24 for them. Look around and get a better deal than that. I like them way more than smartwool

I've got the Hiker Boot Sock Cushion and Light Hiker Micro Crew Light Cushion. I used two pairs of the Boot Sock Cushion for 11 days in CO this year without a problem. No blisters here either.

I do find that my feet sweat noticeably worse in the "light" socks than they do in the thicker ones. I'm guessing it's because they have a tighter weave and don't let my feet breathe as well. Anybody have the same experience?

Also, I'm pretty sure I paid less than $20 for these off amazon.

You better have em!

Come on Dave... that's a big harsh don't you think?

High nylon content in a wool sock may or may not make a difference in moisture management, but when wearing heavy boots I've found good sock fit that stays in place all day (doesn't stretch out and move) is more important for blister management than anything else. Darn Tough has that in spades. I've worn out a few pair now, and zero sock or moisture related blisters so far.

Yk
