Dark Energy First Thoughts

I am new to battery chargers so I do not have any idea on the technical part so please keep in mind. I bought the charger on Aron's recommendation and the fact that DE is hunter friendly. I took advantage of the Father's Day sale and took the charger on a recent trip. First, the pack is well built and looks like it can take some good abuse. The ports are covered with a lid that snaps tightly onto the body. The supplied cord is wrapped in para cord and is bulky but a nice touch. The pack has a flashlight built in that I thought was silly at first but ended using a few times. When used I was able to charge my phone about 4 times or a tablet twice. The led power display is a simple 4 light system easy to read. So far I am happy with the charger but again, this is my first charger. Anyone else have experience please chime in.

Been pretty disappointed with mine, I'm lucky to get 2 charges on my iPhone 6 Plus. I get 7 sometimes 8 out of my Anker.

The only plus I see is that it's waterproof, but a ziploc bag works for the Anker.

How long have you had the anker? I found some info that mentioned that the pack stopped working with in a year. Truthfully, it was the only reason I didn't try out anker. I also put my phone on airplane mode when charging. Maybe it uses less power to get it full like that. It does charge faster in that mode.

I've had an anker for 2+ years, and I use it weekly. Never had an issue with it.
Dark energy looks nice but it's really really expensive for the power your getting compared to an anker. Extra cost I assume is for the weatherproofing, which I don't need.

It seems like the more you use a battery pack the longer it performs as it should.
I know this is true with cordless power tools as I've built/installed cabinets for 10+ years.
Tools that get used a lot daily are still working awesome (a few were there before me and still going strong). Some of my personal "stay at home" tools that don't get used nearly as much won't hold a charge. And they are the same brands.
I believe the same is true for my goal zero charging pack. (Doesn't hold power well but/because it very rarely gets used)

I bought a Dark Energy for Father's Day. They offered 20% off, so figured I would go for it. Got it last Friday, charged it Sat and that's all I've been using for power on my iPhone 6 since. Planning to do a full review when it runs out of juice. So far I've gotten 4 full charges out of it. I've been using my phone with normal daily usage: talking, email, listening to hunting podcasts and reading content on the Internet (news, Favebook, etc). I wait until my phone is down to 1-3%. I use the lower wattage usb port on the Dark Energy battery. I'm curious to see how much I can get out of it. Of course it's warm summer weather, so I don't know what cold temperatures will do to it. So far it has met my expectations. More to come...

My plan is to see if this can replace my GPS with Onxmaps. I need to learn and test more. But looks promising.

I'm over 2 years with my Anker. Never have noticed any drop in performance. I'll have to try the airplane mode, see if it makes any difference.

I picked one up as well. Got it, charged it up. Got almost 5 charges on my Samsung S4. The charger is extremely well built and it's pretty heavy. Can't wait to give it a try on my first scouting trip next month.

I got 4 full charges out of it for my iPhone 6. When I tried the 5th it wouldn't get my phone past 3%. It pretty much gave me enough juice to use my iPhone for a full week. I assume in colder temps it might not last as long. Seems like more than enough for a hunt.
