Long time 8x42 owner and I ordered 10x42 Zeiss Conquest. I primarily hunt whitetail with a mix of woods and ag fields. The 10x42s seemed like a good option for long range in the ag fields and would work in the woods.

Did I make a mistake getting the 10x42s?

I like to glass in the woods as well so I hope the 10s won’t be over power.

No they're fine. Just a little less wide in FOV... and a teensy bit more susceptible to your shakiness when hand-holding. 8's are good for if you're doing a lot of huffin' and puffin' and will be frequently throwing them up by hand to check something quickly while your heart and pulse are pumpin'. 10's when your heart is really pumping can be a little bouncy to look thru. For thick places where you really don't have long open distances, 8's are just fine.

But like, the moment you're starting to consider putting them onto a tripod more (which is magical BTW, you will detect any movement in the FOV when they're on Tripod!) you'll appreciate more and more power.

15's on a tripod are straight out amazing!

Some smaller 8's in hand for hand-checking like out to 200-300yds. Confirming false-targets. 15's on tripod for anything beyond that. Looking intently into and thru the bushes.

10's is a nice in-between for those times when you don't think the 15's will be used as much, but you'll still possibly bust out the tripod at some point in there on a sit. 10's are doable hand-holding. 15's hand-holding quickly gets hard on your eyes. So it's like... you probably don't want to *only* bring just 15's. Mostly depends on how thick your terrain is or isn't.

Anyone got the viewing angle in those 10x42 Conquests in degrees like Nikon lists in their specs?

BHPhoto is a good source for accurate specs on binoculars and scopes.

They list the Conquest HD 10x42 at 345' field of view at 1000 yards, or 6.6 degrees.

I have owned several pairs of 10x42 Conquest HD's and they are fantastic binoculars. Best price to performance ratio in the 1K class IMO.

Enjoy them!

Do they perform well in low light? Thank you

Absolutely. They are excellent, enjoy!

Since buying 10x42s my 8x42s never get used, not even for thick treestand type hunting.
