Picked up a CZ 527 7.62x39 carbine some years back and it went into the back of the safe now that I have time for more shooting was going to get it out. While doing some research on rings and a scope found numerous threads outside this forum and several YouTube videos on the stock cracking at the tang. It appears the early ones were the most prone to this. My serial number is in the A 44XX range. Is there any preventive measures I can take to prevent this. I mainly bought it at the time because the rifle won the wood lottery and would like not to replace it.

I’ve owned two of these and been around five others. Small sample size, but this is not something about which I would be concerned.

Own one with similar serial number as you.
The cracking at the wrist has to do with the way the inlet sits with the rear tang. Under recoil the tang will press rearward into the unsupported grain of the walnut. Due to the unique grain flow of each stock, some will be more prone to cracking than others.

Stabilizing with a full length bedding job (but especially the rear tang) and pillars is the best way to protect the stock.

Good to know.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Will look into doing just that.
