Cylinder vs Box for packable stove

Depends if you want the lightest weight, cylinder, or one that you can cook on, box. Can't go wrong either way, I just like having the flat top on a box stove myself.

I had a hard time assembling a cylinder stove in my living room, can’t imagine trying to do it in the woods when I’m cold and tired. I just kept my box stove as it’s familiar and does what I need it to.

If you are packing a stove I don't see why you would take a round one - unless the weights are drastically different? Just having the option to boil water on it seals the deal for me.

You can boil water on top of the Lite Outdoors cylindrical stove. No problem.

There's no comparison to the efficiency of boiling or cooking on top of a flat stove compared to a cylinder stove. None. You lose a ton of efficiency on a cylinder because of lack of surface contact area. Guys carry cylinder stoves to save weight.

I said you can boil water on top of the LO stove, which is fact. Whatever else you think I said or was inferring is on you bud. I can boil 16 oz of water on my LO no problem. I don't fire the stove up to just boil water so I'm not concerned with the efficiency compared to a box style.

Weight was the main reason I went with a cylinder. Take a look at the pic with a breakdown of weights.

From what I remember when doing my research the burn times weren't any different and I personally had no plans of needing to cook on it. Like some have said though it is still possible top boil water if you need to.
