Picked up a CVA Cascade 308, just looking for some ammo recommendations for target, mule deer and elk (Northern Colorado). Mahalo

The answer to your question greatly depends on your budget, and what your maximum intended range would be for hunting.

I shoot a lot of mil surplus .308 just to get time behind the gun.

I'm working on a load with Hornady ELDM and may have a recipe that works well in my gun as a hunting round.

You should buy a box of several different types of ammo and see which one groups best.

Hornady ELDM or ELD X
Berger
Nosler Partition or Accubond

On the cheaper side, Federal Powers hock, Winchester PowerPoint, and Norma Whitetail which IMO would be fine for elk.

Hornady Black 168 AMAX shot decent in my .308, I know it's the accuracy testing standard for the scope drop tests here on Rokslide. It's relatively affordable too compared to other ammo of similar quality.

I don’t have any experience with the .308 but in several of my rifles i’ve had very good luck with the Hornady Precision ammo. In both the match and hunter.

Mahalo, I had already picked up some Berger and Nosler, I'll give the Hornady a shot too.
