It’s a good upgrade. The Kimber trigger is pretty good but I think the trigger tech is noticeably better.
It may be better than a stock kimber trigger, but a jard spring installed in a adjusted stock trigger, has no equal. Almost as good as a jewell.

Stock kimber triggers also vary from gun to gun, sometimes by quite a bit.

280ai Kimber Hunter.
Barrel chopped at 19” threaded 1/2x28.
Gel removed and filled with marine expanding foam.
Added closed cell foam comb riser with electrical tape.
Shoots 168gr LRX at 2950 fps.
Talley rings and Vortex LHT.
6.5lbs.
How are you getting 2950 with a 19” barrel? That’s a long bullet, the kimber action doesn’t give you any room to seat that out any. What elevation are you at? You’re kinda pushing it to be stable with that bullet, I would think.

Hmmm, Barnes load data shows that at a maximum of 2792 fps and that’s with a 24”. That’s 150 fps more and 5” less barrel. Please share the secret, or what I’m missing. It also states 1:8 twist but at 5000’ you’re probably in pretty good shape with 1:9.

No secret.

Give it a try in yours.

That 8400 action sure must add some weight. I ended up 1 lb lighter with a nomad ti plus ebrake, plus cover on a mountain ascent 280 AI. 20.5”. Waiting on a scythe TI that should get me a couple ounces under 7lb and an inch or more shorter. Swaro z5i 3.5-18, Talley lightweight rings.

My kimber hunter pro in .308 weighs in at 6.1#

So far I've removed the gel from the stock, and replaced the stock bold handle with a lumley arms carbon/ti handle. That got the gun down to under 5# unscoped. With Talley lightweight rings and a Leupolc VX3 4.5-14, and an arca swiss rail it ended up just over 6#

The cerakote was done by Northern Knives.

I don't want to make the gun any lighter. I'd like to add features and weight

1. add a MBM mini beast Ti brake, This should add about an ounce. The stock brake is 0.9oz.

2. adjust/replace the trigger to get it down to a 2# pull. This shouldnt appreciable change the weight.

3. bed the action. This will add a couple ounces.

4. Move the Arca swiss rail. It's quite bouncy and unstable with where I currently have it mounted. I used the sling stud for the mounting hold.

5. Possible add a triad tactical stock bag. This might be too heavy for the features that it adds. Does anyone know the weight of the triad bags?

6. possibly add a scope level. I won't shoot at animals over 400 yards. Is a level really necessary for me?

Sweet rifle!! Were you pretty happy the Northern Knives Cerakote work? It seems to be tough to come by good cerakote applicators in AK

This 6.5-284 84L build features a benchmark barrel and McMillan stock. Balances very nicely with a NF 2-5-10x32, and is a 1 MOA gun for 10 rounds.
