customized Kimber rifles

280ai Kimber Hunter.
Barrel chopped at 19” threaded 1/2x28.
Gel removed and filled with marine expanding foam.
Added closed cell foam comb riser with electrical tape.
Shoots 168gr LRX at 2950 fps.
Talley rings and Vortex LHT.
6.5lbs.

What is the diameter of your muzzle right before the threads? My barrel is cut to 18”, and I’d like to thread it 1/2-28, but I keep seeing 0.600” as the minimum recommended diameter, and I’m at 0.585.

Nice build! 6.5 CM is a great choice. I've done a few things to mine, mostly trigger work (really makes a difference!), and I swapped out the stock for a Manners.

I have Kampfeld do all mine. Last two, 22cm and 6cm. Both hammer. Lilja barrels 17.5”with 5/8x24 seamless muzzle flares for suppression. 5.1 and 5.2 lbs.

All of my kimbers weigh right at 7 pounds or less including vx5hd or vx6hd scopes and talley rings.. how the heck does yours weigh so much?

This is my first Kimber so all I know is the 8400

That's the finest pair of Kimbers I've seen. I'm envious.

Length is measured from the action pressure relief hole.

I’ve got an 84m Montana 308
-barrel shortened to 18” threaded for 5/8x24
-titanium bolt handle
-aluminum trigger guard
-beaded the action
-trijicon accupoint 3-9
-warne mountain tech 1” low rings
-warn maxima bases ceracoated because they rust badly

I get 2730fps with nosler accubond 165g and varget, when the bases get back from kampfeld I’ll shoot some 130g Barnes I’ve got loaded up.

I’d like to se some pics of this if you could. Mines is almost identical everything except I haven’t shortened the barrel yet.

The scope bases are off getting ceracoated but I can snap a few pics of it without a scope on it if you want.

There’s a pic of it back before I swapped the scope/rings off of it.

I forgot to mention that mine has a trigger tech trigger in it.
