The last 2 years I’ve been hunting with a custom built 6.5PRC in an Impact action and HNT26. It’s been a wonderful rifle and I’ve truly enjoyed shooting it, with 147ELDM’s it’s been filthy on critters. Actually, I just switched over to a Berger 156 load that shoots even better, and I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for Bergers. That rifle ain’t going anywhere, and likely as not I’ll be going back to it before all is said and done with - I am absolutely enamored with that rifle.
But I had this tickle last year and started working on a Tikka 7PRC. The HNT26 chassis is incredible, I would go so far as to say it is the best chassis on the market for backpack style hunting so I bought another one for the Tikka LA. I was shooting factory ELDX and ELDM, but just couldn’t get it to where I wanted (it was shooting 1” groups @ 2727) so I reached out to Unknown Munitions and had them load me up some 180ELDM’s.
Fellas. It’s a shooter. I cleaned the rifle a few weeks ago, and finally got it on a bench today to see what it would do with the new ammo. I am pleased. Details below…

I probably could have shot a tighter group, that flyer was the first one out of a freshly cleaned barrel but I didn’t want to cheat anyone…. So results are what they are.
Either way, Hornady says it’s capable out to 875 yards.. which is probably further than id be willing to shoot something.
