Custom shelters and modifications

I wanted to take a second to tell everyone that William made a shelter for me and I am very impressed with his work. I am going to give it a good workout in September and will try and get some pictures. Thanks William for your help.

Thanks for the good word. I just hope you get what you're after and my shelter keeps you comfortable doing it.

Your large mid looks like a backcountry palace. How long are you backlogged? Would like to have something to try out this spring. PS let us know how your hunt went.

William,
Back in March someone had asked about an 11'x13' footprint with a stove jack. Any chance you have the plans made up for that which would let you whip one out for me? I sent you a PM prior to me getting to the end of the thread, so I came up with more questions not posed. I'll be out moose hunting for a week, but would like to connect with you when I get back. Thanks!

Any plans for a Redcliff style shelter? That or the Sawtooth style one sure seem like the perfect shelter for two, plus a stove, and room to stand.

I don't make replicas of any company because I just don't want to be that guy. Seek outside can beat my prices on anything the put out anyway for a few reasons, not the least of which being the fabric they use.

I don't especially care for the Redcliffe design but if a guy was intent on having a rectangular pyramid built I certainly could.

The sawtooth is an excellent design but it's Kifaru's.

I do have a design a friend of mine and myself came up with that we tested in Colorado this year and it worked well. It's based off of the 4 man tipi I make with a stretched out half. It's the brown one on the right.

I dunno, after finally getting the Redcliff out, I"m pretty impressed with the room it offers. I'll still keep my Sawtooth and Cimarron but may lean more towards trading the Cimarron for one with no stove jack for a lightweight 1-2 person shelter with no stove. The Sawtooth for a 2 (maybe 3) person shelter with a stove. The Redcliff will have a place for 3-4 people with a stove or just a run-around playground for 1-2 when weight doesn't matter.

Just got back from Joshua Tree

There are a lot of guys that I absolutely love the redcliffe and it certainly has its applications, but I just think there are better designs.

I heard of a DIY sawtooth with a second door option?
Pictures?

I will leave my thoughts on the added rear access zipper. I did this modification and really love the added access to the rear makes much easier to use that rear space and much easier to vent with air flowing front to rear.

Alright fellas, I've held off releasing this because I'm slammed at my regular job and I've also taken up volunteering at the local fire department so meeting time frames has been...challenging. I had help for a bit but he's become pretty busy as well. It was also still hunting season here until a few days ago. Anyway enough boohooing.

This one is called the Teton. A buddy of mine and I came up with this design. This is the prototype and there are some differences from the finished product but you get the idea. There will be 3 sizes and this is the medium. Weight for it should be around 3 lb. For the canopy. It is larger than a sawtooth by a fair amount at 10' wide at the front and 7' at the back and 84" tall. We slept 4 at one point but could fit 5 in a pinch. It's an absolute palace for 2 and 3+gear+stove is easily doable.

As you can see the front tipi portion can completely roll out of the way and be used open as a glassing shelter or faced towards a campfire or just as a basic open tarp.

Price will be $750+shipping on this size, stakes and pole not included. I will need a non refundable materials deposit and the balance due when ready to ship.

Wow that is . Can you explain a little more on the three sizes with weights, measurements and prices.

I have not quite finished the other 2 designs yet but the smaller would be similar in size to a sawtooth and the larger will be taller and 12' wide at the front and 9' at the back.
Looks good, is there a general source for the poles?

I recommend ruta locura carbon poles but a lot of guys prefer aluminum which can be had from several sources.
