Disclaimer, I'd like to first attempt to sell the rifle in a face-to-face transaction. I'm located in W.PA and willing to work with a buyer cutting the travel distance to meet (within reason).

For sale is a custom pre-64 action Winchester M70 serial number G372XXX in 300 Ultra Mag $2300

The following work was done by Steve Mayluk owner of S. Mayluk Custom Guns here in W. PA
  • HS Precision Stock with Pachmyar recoil pad
  • Fully bedded barrel/action
  • Factory trigger set to a crisp 2.5lbs
  • Speedlock firing pin and spring
  • Finished 28” Shilen select match grade barrel, bead blasted finished, standard chamber (more information below)
  • Bolt knob by Karl Feldkamp from Kampfeld Custom
  • 1” and 30mm scope rings included
  • I'd be more than willing to facetime regarding the rifle including a live bore inspection if requested.

In addition to the rifle, the following items are included in the sale
  • RCBS FL die set #17601
  • Stoney Point dummy round used to determine seating depth
  • 121 pieces of brass (new)
  • 51 pieces of brass (once fired)
  • Unopened 100ct Berger VLD 168gr
  • Unopened 100ct Nosler Accubond LR 190gr
Here is the back story:
I purchased the gun new chambered in 300RUM. It came factory with a thin sporter contour barrel and a cheap plastic stock. I had Steve add the HS precision stock and the speedlock firing pin and spring. While it always shot sub MOA, I decided to build more of a long range rifle and had the current barrel installed by Steve in 2008.
Shortly after the rebarreling I went through 3 shoulder surgeries making the rifle an official safe queen. While this is not a concern for me today, I have other rifles I’ve used since the surgeries. In total transparency, I’m looking to fund another rifle purchase.

Regarding the chamber:
With the factory barrel, I could achieve ½ MOA accuracy with a seating depth close to the lands but the round would not fit in the magazine. With the new barrel now in the equation, I instructed Steve to chamber the new barrel’s chamber short to replicate the same jump (seating depth) while fitting in the rifle magazine. For liability reasons, Steve required the “Handloads Only” engraving on the barrel.
In 2023, I pulled the rifle out of the safe and instructed Steve to ream the chamber to factory specifications. My intention was to reload Hammer Hunter bullets but the rifle has remained a safe queen since. The below chronograph summary is with my handloads using a 200gr Accubond pushed with H1000 powder. I can not speak to the accuracy as the rifle is currently optics-free.

Just to be clear, this is a post 64 rifle with controlled feed action per the pre 64 design, it is not a pre-64 rifle. Right?

Excellent question, yes you are correct in that it is a post 64 action with a pre-64 designed controlled feed

Bump/edit with correct number of new pieces of brass.

If interested but would require the rifle to be shipped to your FFL, shoot me a DM
