Custom Ear Pro?

Hey all. I am looking for recommendations into a moldable ear protection product. Something that is not a generic one size fits all; rather, something I can specifically mold to my ear shape.

You can usually find a vendor at various sport shows, gun shows, etc... that will make them for you. I've had a couple pair made over the years.

Some of the other guys on here have used/recommend decibullz. They seem reasonably priced and might be along the lines of what you're looking for. I don't have any experience with them yet, but I will probably get a pair for both mysel and my wife.

Comes with an exam, and molds taken by an actual audiologist. Going with an "Impulse Filter" which is supposed to reduce gunshots and other "impulse" noises ~33dB. Although, Not sure what the starting point is for that rating.

Give me a couple weeks, and I can probably give you a review. Wanted to do these before I considered a pair of electronic ones.

I had an ENT make me a pair years ago with filters in them. Not sure of NNR but I shoot with them all the time and they work great. Shooting skeet and rifles I can have a normal conversation, although slightly muffled while having good noise reduction while shooting. Some may try and cheep out on their hearing protection, but I felt $125 was cheap for keeping my hearing.

I am an ENT and our audiologists helped me get these. They work great but are pricey as they are made by a hearing aid company. But, they are quality. I use them in our trap league and hunting. No issues. They also make non battery powered custom molds a buddy of mine got for trap. He doesn’t hunt.

I was actually talked into a set of their custom fit digital ones. Spent 30 minutes talking to the guy on them and the different models before getting fit, and they come with a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. The deciding factor for me was something that I could leave in when hunting.

Should be picking them up next week if you want to wait for a review, hoping it's not an expensive mistake.

This is the exact reason I went with the Westone DefendEar. I can leave them in. They run on hearing aid batteries. I used to use a really nice set of electronic muffs but they were big and bulky. It was hard to wear a hat with them. With the new ones, they go in and stay in and I do t even know they are there. I can hear everything and they shut off the second the trigger is pulled.

I won't buy for a little while. I still may go with non customs. The Otto ones are my blan B.
