The bows strings and cables are the most CRITICAL component and I won't use a companies STR/CBL that doesn't back it with at least a 1 year warranty. I have looked at a few companies that only stand behind their STR/CBL for 6 mo and that to me just throws up a red flag. My Pro Comp XL target rig is pushing 10,000 arrows on it this year on one set (and i haven't waxed them yet!!!) they still look as new as the day they went on last january! No on can believe it. My cams haven't moved, my peep hasn't rotated it is the same shot after shot. With that many arrows with a 6 mo company mentally I begin to worry about something happening and in the middle of a tournament season (indoor/outdoor) or even a hunting season having to replace a set and almost start from scratch.

"PEACE OF MIND IS PRICELESS"

I continue to hold true to my personal belief that I would rather pay for the very best and products that I trust to do the job when it counts than to use/accept free gear/equipment because it is just that. Free. I have been offered strings and cables from other companies but when I have to make that one shot count on the tournament line or in the back country I TRUST AMERICAS BEST BOWSTRINGS and will gladly pay for peace of mind.

This is the same reason I stick with Winner's Choice. I've used them for 14 years now on all of my bows and they have yet to let me down or fail in any way. They may cost a bit more but I have piece of mind knowing they will hold true when in the field.

Hey guys wanted to post a little note on here. Rokslide has a string sponsor and websites aren't allowed as per contracts with site sponsors. You are more than welcome to post about other companies but not post their website/web addresses. Thus the reason for my edits on a few of the posts.

Thanks for letting me know that, Evan. Sorry.

With Ex-wolverine on here now, I would hit him up. I have heard only high praise for his threads. He does a fantastic job and the important thing is that he is a tuner also, so he knows the whys of his string builds.

Ray Knight makes the best strings I have ever used. Very nice quality. I've tried a lot winners choice, vapor trail, Americas best, etc.

I have shot Winners Choice, Vapor Trail, Side Hill Strings and currently running Core Archery strings and have been very impressed with them. I will probably be hitting up the boys at Dirty North Archery for a set before season as they carry New Breed and I support the Nation.

Newb here...what do custom strings get you over and above a bow manufacturer's (like Hoyt) string? Any change in speed or accuracy?

Speed? Maybe, but accuracy gain can be a factor just based on the string being more stable

They should hold a tune better, less or no peep rotation, less/no string stretch. When it was first explained to me they said "you don't have to baby sit your bow as much" if that makes sense. There are a lot of others with a better understanding of the ins and outs of archery so if I am wrong or off please correct me. I am currently waiting for a set of ABB Platinum strings right now.

Winners Choice made my Creed shoot better than it ever did with Mathews strings. The bow is quieter and tuned for broadhead flight without doing a thing to the yokes.

IMO, depending on the manufacturer, about the only thing you gain is serving durability. I haven't had any stability issues with stock Octane or Fuse strings in quite a few years. The serving, where it goes around cam posts and the center serving are not as durable as on a custom set of strings. Other than that, no real gain.

I stuck with the stock Hoyt strings on my 2015 model, and they have been as stable and worn as well as any custom stuff I have bought in the past. There is a set of Stone Mountain or Vapor trail strings (don't recall which) collecting dust on my work bench as a result.

Winners Choice was my choice for years, but my friends and I had 2 cables that came that were wrong length so I looked elsewhere - and the competitors seem to be on par with the WC quality wise and are cheaper
